July 23, 201312 yr I just now got around to watching this convention video from Munich. I wonder what we can expect after the war bird, 777 and the 747. It will surprise us he says. Airbus? Am I really really really late on catching up on news and updates? http://youtu.be/0EmQS-h0Ct4?t=3m53s
July 23, 201312 yr Maybe late watching the video, but at this stage all we know is: 777, 747v2, DC6, then ???mystery plane of PMDG awesome??? Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator

Reply: "Still working on it" "When we do get it fixed, we will give it to you" "Something we would like to add" ==== Since then little more about Shared Cockpit, and no mention for the 777. (that I have seen in any forum posts) Has PMDG given up on getting shared cockpit to run, for the 737 and the 777 ?
July 23, 201312 yr Has PMDG given up on getting shared cockpit to run, for the 737 and the 777 ? If I recall correctly - trying to add it to the 777 would stomp the development massively. I'm sure it's in that set of videos somewhere! I'd imagine it'd be something that appears random once they find the time to get it working. - Luke Pabari
July 23, 201312 yr Commercial Member Shared cockpit is a long term project (similar to networked displays etc) - we need to build our own custom networking system that works over TCP/IP to do this. Do not expect it in the 777 initial release. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

Do not expect it in the 777 initial release. That's ok. Shared cockpit wouldn't be anywhere near as fun in the T7 as it would be in the DC6 (i.e. an aircraft that would actually benefit from having more than one virtual pilot) Luke Harvest
July 23, 201312 yr Author Maybe late watching the video, but at this stage all we know is: 777, 747v2, DC6, then ???mystery plane of PMDG awesome??? THAT'S THE QUESTION  !!! WHAT is this mystery airplane? The Airbus Extended is actually quite decent. The BBS 330 is also coming along and we have the boys at FSLabs developing their A3XX. If PMDG wanted to grasp the market in the Airbus heavies I'd like to think they would go for the A380. It's a smart move because after the heavy, they could work backwards and release the A330 (maybe) the A321-20-19-18 and by that time the current Aerosoft FSLabs and BBS projects would be extremely outdated. Shared cockpit is a long term project (similar to networked displays etc) - we need to build our own custom networking system that works over TCP/IP to do this. Do not expect it in the 777 initial release. It would be nice to have in the T7. I'd like to see it come as an addon or update for your whole fleet at some point once you perfect it. Remember your HUD? You thought it was almost broken then it just came together. Shared will come, I have an intuition.
July 23, 201312 yr We cant forget that we are getting the 747-8i in full detail not just the looks. Kind regards Mattias Nordgren PRO-ATCX BETA TEAM
July 23, 201312 yr In my opinion, I think a lot more work on other platform(s) will begin after the 777/747v2/DC6 are all complete - bear in mind there is all the relevant expansions to do for the 777 and 747, not to mention the possibility of the BBJ/ER add ons for the NGX. However, FSX is not the platform to take us into the future. Work has to start now on other platforms to keep the hobby alive. P3D is looking like the choice for commercial add-ons, and I would guess X-Plane for the home users. I would be extremely surprised if PMDG went for an Airbus. Not least because of the crazy amount of development needed for a 'true' fly-by-wire system. Mr Randazzo has already made public his opinion on making the 787 - "...from a developers standpoint, just the thought of the airplane makes me break out in a very prickly rash because it is so software driven, my fear is that there's a whole lot of stuff in there that we would have to invent to support the data driven side of it". Seeing the development of the FSL A320 I can really understand this standpoint. So, don't be surprised to see development start to switch focus to another platform (all IMHO, of course). Karl Brooker
July 23, 201312 yr Given time and support I think these guys stand an outside chance of being the next best platform http://www.ipacs.de/forum/showthread.php/6110-aerofly-FS-Development-Status Elliot Westacott

The A350 cockpit looks more like an A380 cockpit then the A318/19/20/21/30/40 I love the A330 myself, more than the A320, and even the 777 ( hiss). But I imagine an FSlabs A330 will be here before PMDG ever do one. I suspect the sun will go dark before a PMDG A330 too -_- Regardless what comes after 777/747v2 and DC6 I'm sure it will be great. All I hope is that it's a "popular" and "Common" RPT aircraft that I can fly on VATSIM under civilian routing structure. Jet engines and FMC's preferred, Turboprops accepted too. However, good to hear that PMDG might still be considering Shared Cockpit as a long term project.

The point of my thread was to bring up a statement made by Rob at the conference in Munich where he almost spilled the beans on what was next after all the products we know about. Did you click the link on my post and watch the youtube? You don't like the AEX? Howcome? It's the best one out there today. It's good enough.
July 23, 201312 yr Rob owns (either by himself or with the PMDG team) a flying DC3. Several folks at the conference in Kansas who have worked with Rob suggested it is in their queue... Colin Ware
