Hi there!

Before anything I want to say thank you to all the people making models so beautyful for us to enjoy and FREEWARE!!! sometimes better than the payware ones!! really, thank you very, very much!! but what I really want to ask is, why this nice models( and I'm talking about, TDS 737s and 787s, SkySpirit 777's etc.' no one of this models have Static Electric Dischargers in de wings, elevator, and Rudder, I don´t understand, they spend a lot of time working in this models, and nobody see this, and nobody in this forum talk about, they talk about engine model, winglets, Scimitar etc, etc, but nobody seems to look in the wings , elevators and rudder, maybe I´m crazy, you can tell me that, but I think if you take the time to make a model , lot of hours of your own time, to put this detail is not big deal, and look much more realistic!

I´ll like to hear what do you think about this!

What you have to understand is any time you throw a shape in there, you're using polygons. As I understood it, these models are so detailed that they've nearly maxed out the polygon limit. Try to throw in any more, and Hiroshi would start getting error codes. Whether this limit is a hard limit or whether it's a limit set for performance purposes, I don't know, but I do know the models are pretty close to the limits.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your answer!, it sounds ok to me!, i don't understand nothing about building models for MSFS2004, thats why I can't give my opinion, I have a lot of planes in my simulator and nearly all of them have the Static Electricity dischargers, this was the reason for my question!

Thanks again and have a nice landings!

It's all good. I don't expect the average simmer to know what goes on from the modeling side of things. The only reason I know any of this is that Hiroshi told me himself. Of course, I can only tell you how things are done from his point of view. I'm aware that other developers do things differently, either because they are using different software or they might not put nearly as much detail into certain things....the list is truly endless. Most people just jump into the simulator and fly, but if you take the time to talk to some developers, you start to get a better understanding of how things are done or why they're done the way they are. For instance, many developers have stopped producing add-ons for FS9 and went strictly FSX only. You see many people state that a lot of people are still using FS9 and the developers should still support FS9. As an FS9 user myself, I'm not necessarily too thrilled with the decision to go FSX only, but having talked to some people from the development side, I at least understand why they went FSX only. You basically need two sets of FDEs for the most part, and as for models, there are things you can do in FSX that you can't do in FS9 and when developers are trying to take advantage of those things, the only thing holding them back would be FS9.
