Having Trouble with Alabeo PA38 TOMAHAWK II and Opus

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm having a problem with the new Alabeo PA38 Tomahawk II working with Opus.

What one has to do with the other, I can't understand.

When I load the Tomahawk, if I start Opus, I can start up the Tomahawk and takeoff, but shortly after takeoff FSX will lock up with a fatal error.

If I don't use Opus, I can fly the Tomahawk all around with no problem.

This is the ONLY aircraft that I have that doesn't seem to get along with Opus.  I have never had this problem before with any aircraft.

I have contacted Alabeo, but they have not responded with an answer to my problem yet.

Is there any reason, that you can think of, that one aircraft, namely the Alabeo Tomahawk, would be incompatible with Opus?

I use Opus for camera in conjunction with my TrackIR5, and for weather.

I have FSX Gold running on a Sandy Bridge i7 with a GTX670 and 64Gigs of RAM using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Thank you,

Bob

Can you open the spy window and tell me what aircraft name is reported when the aircraft is loaded.

Are you using Live Camera and if so have you created a default view for this aircraft? If you haven't then you could try creating a default VC camera view for the aircraft and see if that makes any difference. If you still have a problem you could email me your camera file.

Thank you very much for your support and suggestions.  I will try all of these things tonight.

I also have Alabeo looking into it.  They just answered me today, but haven't come up with anything yet.

FSXCrashwithTomahawk-Opus_zps85d0cdfd.jp

Hello,

I set up the cameras for the Tomahawk and clicked "Ok".  As soon as the view went back to the cockpit, FSX crashed.

Below is the text from the "Spy" within Opus:

GEN  General process monitoring has been enabled ...
GEN  Licenced User Name : Robert Yunque
GEN  Licenced Order No. : XXXXXXX
 SIM  Connected to Simulator
SIM  Air Folder = Alabeo PA38_Tomahawk

(I removed the license number here, for security reasons)
It's strange because it is obvious the FSX crash has something to do with the Tomahawk and Opus together, but I don't understand why no other aircraft has this problem.  Only the Alabeo Tomahawk.
I would appreciate any help.  I really want to be able to fly this little aircraft.

Thank you,
Bob

Try turning off Live Camera and see if that helps, if so send me their aircraft.cfg file in case there is something strange inside that, but I have no idea why the aircraft sim should crash FSX. Nothing we do could cause a CDT very difficult from an external program communicating only via SimConnect. So just try isolating the reason. Is it the RW weather or Live Camera the aircraft sim does not like. But I think If it was Opus it would not be specific to one aircraft sim.

I agree Stephen, that it wouldn't be anything wrong with Opus.  I will try this and get you the cfg file later today.  I really appreciate that your helping me isolate this problem.  I don't think Alabeo is going to be able to help much.

I know it's not adding anything to the fix, but just to say that I flew the Alabeo PA38 Tomahawk today, with Opus, (with some newly PA-38 assigned camera views), with no issues, so it's not a universal problem.

Very useful information Dave, Robert perhaps you should reinstall the aircraft sim see if that cures the problem.

Ok Stephen.  I uninstalled it, re-downloaded it from Alabeo's website and re-installed it.

Everything seems to be working fine now, even with live camera on.

Thank you very much, for your help.
