I wonder how you are using DX9 mode with lots of addon. I have CTD when I increase simulation rate or when I finish flying and after the menu choose another flight or alt-enter. DX10 doesn't crash FSX but it has night lightning problems. Only solution is to wait Steve's fixer but I know there are lots of people who use DX9 primary so am I doing something wrong?

Stop using 534232490324324 complex, high-resolution add-ons.

First try to find out what is causing the CTD by checking the event manager in Windows. Maybe it's a DLL or your videocard driver. It can help a lot, so look at your application and system logs.

You don't get a pop-up with an error message when it crashes?

This works for me: 

1.apply microsoft patch to increase heap limitation:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947246

2. download SceneryConfigEditor and every time before you start FSX - use it to enable only scenery which will be used for next flight. That means 2-3 airports and maximum 2 continents. Disable all other scenery, especially photoscenery and other payware scenery

3.in fsx.CFG, set TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD to maximum 2048, never above

4.If you use REX, in REX options select DXT optimized textures where you can

5. Use Windows 7 / 64bit and don't change default paging file, leave it to system managed

 

I have no OOM erros for aprox. 2 years, i do long haul flights with PMDG airliners, Concorde X, REX, AS2012, FSDT, ORBX, Aerosoft etc...

You are way overtaxing your system. Turn your sliders down. The DX10 fixer isn't going to do much for your situation.
