Parking brake question?

Featured Replies

Hi

A question to any of the developers/beta testers of the PMDG 777. Will the functioning of the parking brakes in this addon mirror that of the real aircraft? My meaning is that in the actual 777, the parking brakes are applied by the pilots first applying toe brake pressure and then pulling up the parking brake lever to 'set' them to park. Will it also properly simulate the release of the brakes and have annimated toe brakes in the virtual cockpit? Great work on this addon btw, it looks awsome already and I can't wait to fly it! :)

Regards

It is possible to release the parking brakes by a press of the toe brakes in the NGX so I don't see why this feature wouldn't be carried over to the T7.

In regards to setting the brakes, I am not too sure. I believe if you press the brakes while trying to pull the park brake lever, FSX will just release the parking brakes at the same time. Not sure if PMDG have been able to bypass this somehow.

I just press my toe brakes shut down the fuel flow then release when I know there is no thrust and engage the PB.  I agree holding the command down while activating will result in an immediate release.

The thing I like most related to the parking brakes is that when you have wheel chocks on you are able to release the parking brake and not start rolling away (not like that would happen in FSX).

It comes most in handy when running external additions like GSX which rely on having the park brakes set (The wheel chocks trick FSX in to thinking the park brake is set).

Here with the 737NGX I can press brake pedals and set parking braking while pressing them, as in the real life, without any problems related to immediate release of parking brake;

I only release the brake pedals after confirming parking brakes on;

by the way, I use a rudder/brake pedals hardware.. maybe this problem should be experienced by those who have to use keyboard to command manual brakes and parking brake

A2A's P51 requires that you hold down the toe brakes while pulling the PB handle to set the PB. So it's possible, but not sure if PMDG will model it like that.

Thanks for the messages so far! Anyone from PMDG though or a 777 beta tester want to comfirm or deny this?! :)

Sweet I had no idea.  Every time I touch the toes my PB always came off.  I guess I should check out some A2A stuff.
