SSD recommendations?

Featured Replies

I already have an SSD for both Windows 8 and FSX (120 GB, way too small for both), so am contemplating purchasing a new SSD for FSX only- maybe 250 GB.  Still deciding on size.  But can anyone recommend a good SSD vendor?  Or any to stay away from?  I'm looking at New Egg, and most vendor names I see are familiar from the memory product world.

Thanks for any ideas,  Bruce.

I have the Pro version not much difference really. Go bigger if you can rather than cheap and small. IMHO

The PRO version is overkill for FSX,  save some money and get the Samsung 840.

I have Win7 & FSX on a single Samsung 840 500Gb SSD.  There will be room for P3D or XPlane 64 whichever I decide to go w/ next ;o)  I like having it all on one disk.  Since I have everything installed and working well I will put a HDD in my new box and install either Vista 64 or XP 32 in a dual boot configuration, toggled in the BIOS at start up, since I have useable copies of these OS'.  I have some other software to run and so this way I can keep my Win7/FSX SSD very free of everything, including anti-virus software & and any other bloatware of any kind.  I will put Paragon Disk Suite on the 2nd OS install and clone my SSD to a 500GB HDD I have laying around w/ very few hours on it.  That I'm hoping this will be my back up solution should I need to re-clone to another 500Gb SSD in the event of a failure.  I understand Paragon can do this task well, though there is some ambiguity about a few issues in cloning from HDD > SSD having to do w/ alignment.  I think it will be a non-issue provided I make the clone from the secondary HDD w/ other Windows OS.
