August 27, 201312 yr I'm tempted to buy the Just Flight TriStar. Can anyone tell me if it's any good? I can't find any reviews when I google. To me, the cockpit seems a bit basic, but that could be incorrect. And how well is the systems simulated? I'm looking forward to reading your opinions, guys!
August 27, 201312 yr In my honest opinion, no - unless you want a TriStar that is basically the same level of complexity as the default MS aircraft. Flight dynamics were also way off..... I got a refund on it.
August 27, 201312 yr Well the CS version will be released eventually, it will be part of the "fun range" so don't expect systems depth. Visually however it is stunning. I will wait to see what the census is after the full base package has been released
August 27, 201312 yr Commercial Member Well currently it's easily the best Tristar out there, CS might be better if they finish it some day though, neither will be a complete simulation. I think still after patches the JF Tristar is a bit overpowered but not as bad as it was just after release I think. Otherwise I like it.
August 27, 201312 yr Hi, I have the tristar since it came out and i would have to agree with some of the guys, visually its good but its flight characteristics are off the cockpit aint fully functional and it badly needs a load manager as trying to to do weight n balance with the fs default is crap, but its sounds terrific and if your like me just love trijets its hard not to have it..... The IRS can be tricky to use too in all its only ok, i did read JF are planning a service pack for it ! hope this helps
August 27, 201312 yr I purchased the boxed version last week from an aviation shop nearby. I've spent minimal time with it so far because at the same time, I also bought the NGX and I've been flying it a lot. I plan to start flying the TriStar more seriously after I get more time in the NGX. With what little time I've spent with the TriStar so far, I would have to agree with the other posters. The TriStar is a "lite" aircraft. If you've had experience with other lite releases from CLS and Just Flight, you should be expecting something similar with regards to system simulation. However, I would rank the TriStar as slightly more complex than previous lite releases because of the working windshield wipers, the ability to use N1(haven't tried this yet but read about it in a forum, so please correct me if I'm wrong), and a few other things previously not seen in lite aircrafts. The model and textures are beautiful and very accurate as far as I can tell. I believe the external textures are 2048 resolution. Not sure about VC. But like Retroguy said, if you're a fan of tri jets, it's hard to not have it as long as you don't mind lite add ons. Especially since this is the only good TriStar add on out there for FSX. The CS version looks excellent but who knows when it's going to be complete. I think it's worth the money, imo, because I enjoy both complex and lite aircrafts and I have a thing for tri jets. If you do decide to get it, make sure you download the service pack available on JF's website. Some major fixes there. Nature Boy
