Hi all

I have a problem.  I bought a new computer and reinstalled radar contact version 4.0.3675.

The install went OK.  When I tried to launch it after loading a flight plan I get an error message.

 

Run-Time error '9'

Radarcontact.rcv4module.initialize

 

After checking all the other Run-Time error '9' posts and trying some of what they tried I am out of things to try. I have not tried uninstalling yet.  I have noticed that my RC version 4.0.3675 is not the most current version.  I believe the most current version is Version 4.3843.  Check me if I'm wrong.

 

I am running Windows 7 professional.

 

64 bit Operating System.  Service pack 1

 

Installed memory (Ram) 16.0 GB.

 

Microsoft flight simulator FSX

 

FSUIPC is current

 

Should I uninstall radar contact Version 4.0.3675 and install  newer version 4.3843?  Hoping that would correct my problem.

 

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  Hopefully I have supplied enough information.

Just a quick point,are you running RC with Administrator rights?

 

I dont mean that you are the computers administrator but that you are starting RC by Right clicking and choosing Run as Administrator.

 

I would obtain the up to date version of RC if you are using FSX,they run well together on Win 7.

Send an e-mail to jd_at_jdtllc.com subject RC 4.3845 update download link. Include your ordering e-mail address and user name requesting those be updated if necessary so the auto key generator can be updated for you. Be sure jdtllc.com is allowed through your pc and ISP spam filters. Given the US holiday weekend, in may take a couple of days to get your version 4.3 build 3845 download link.

 

You may have to install some vbasic runtime library dlls and ocxs no longer included in Win 7. See missing module  pinned thread. In addition read the error 75 thread about getting your security system to pass RC through to your FSX install since its high rate of access to FS mimics a virus to certain security applications.

 

For the install do what norman s. suggested with a right click and run as admin. When your install completes set up a shortcut to rcv4.exe in your rcv4x folder. Right click on that shortcut and select properties. Ignore the run as admin in this first dialog. click on advanced. In the dialog that opens click on that run as admin so it is checked. Ok it to return to the previous dialog, click apply, then OK to make this application elevation in access permanent.

 

After your install update fsuipc if needed from http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ installing the full version and then interim update as needed. Update makerwys from http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/ and then again run your RC scenery rebuild. Both of these have major updates from the distribution versions.

 

Let us know if you then run into problems. Test with just RC and FSX running using a default aircraft and airport scenery. Step 1

Thank you for your reply. Yes I did Run as Administrator and it did the same thing. Looks like I'll try Uninstalling and reinstalling the newer version.

You will need a new activation key for your newly formatted disks on a new pc. If your e-mail address and user name are the same as before, and you have not requested several keys, then the automatic system should work for you. If not, follow the manual e-mail procedure I replied with earlier.

Thanks to John and all. I uninstalled the old version of Radar Contact and reinstalled the newer one. Everything is operating as advertized. I plan on using it with IYP. That should be interesting. Again Thanks to all for your help.
