Microsoft "Acquires" Nokia

Just as expected... Saw this before I went to bed: http://blogs.technet.com/b/microsoft_blog/archive/2013/09/02/the-next-chapter-an-open-letter-from-steve-ballmer-and-stephen-elop.aspx and http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/news/press/2013/Sep13/09-02AnnouncementPR.aspx

I can't be the only one who saw this coming. Nokia kept trying and trying with Windows Phone... now Microsoft is behind their back.

Won't be buying that phone. Clearly it is an Apple/Android market. I've never even seen a Windows Phone when I go out with friends. I haven't seen a Blackberry for well over a year now either.

No one will. There's a new Nokia one with a 41 or so megapixel camera, but it has Windows Phone 8. If Nokia made Android phones, however....

It's not that bad, tried several windows mobile phones, works nicely. android and apple OS are just overhyped. I own android phone, and it's ok, but nothing special.

I don't think Android is overhyped. I think it's very powerful and it gives the user a ton of options.

Good for Nokia shareholders, and yet another nail in the Microsoft coffin. It is amazing to see that even with their massive R&D budgets Nokia didn't manage to rise from the ashes. Nokia laughed at smartphones and Mircrosoft laughed at tablets.... Talk about being out of touch with reality. Reminds me of Kodak who didn't think digital cameras would catch on...

I have been a Microsoft Customer since around 1992, prior to that I was a very happy Apple customer with an Apple IIe then an Apple IIc. Reason why I was an Apple customer was because Sublogic Flight Simulator worked on Apple. When Sublogic went over to Microsoft I became a Microsoft customer.

Since 1992 I was happy enough with Microsoft until closure of Aces and also not happy from beta testing Windows 8. Therefore I am an iPhone user. It is my way of saying if Microsoft no longer wants to support me as a customer then I won't support them as a consumer.....easy as that

I have had my iPhone for a month now and it works good enough for my needs, That and an iPad is my first Apple products since my old Apple IIc so it is fun going back to Apple once again.

I've gone the same route -> iPhone, iPad and MacBook since FLIGHT was released! My FSX machine is my last Microsoft powered computer - Having had plenty since 1986 or so! The only thing that can change that is a new flight sim that takes full advantage of modern PC hardware.
