...I'll be on approach, decelerating and extending flaps as per the sched and a few clicks of the trim doesn't help out and then it snaps into an overtrim.

 

Similar occurrence here, though not on every approach.  I'll be on short final, stabilized, on sched, etc (hand flying) and at a few hundred feet alt suddenly trim will go off the chart into nose-up or down.  I don't get a spike as such, but unless I intervene it'll max the trim with predictable results.

 

My opinion is that this is related to my own system, mainly due to the random nature of the occurrence.  Something in my setup just wants that nose to point to the sun  B)

I have to agree, though it seems clearly related to the 777's programming as well since I don't have any issues with other aircraft. It would be nice to see some kind of update from PMDG in the known issues thread.
