Maybe time to more indepth expalantion about what to expect
I wanted to chime in here and echo the frustrations of Robin and Martin regarding the pitch/trim/speed stability issues. PMDG spared no effort in advertising the accuracy of the LR/F's systems. I think we all expected the aircraft to behave as per the real world through the normal flight regime given all of the development and testing that PMDG put into the project, not to mention the fairly steep price tag (not to suggest that the price isn't justified overall). When a select few of us discovered that it didn't work quite the way it should, PMDG's initial response (at least to me) was to suggest that we clearly couldn't know what we were talking about because they just knew better. I think we all understand that PMDG has access to documentation that the rest of us don't have. They have an accomplished tech and beta team who know the airplane in and out. There are FBW kinks that aren't actually explained in the manuals, but are in fact known to the 777 pilot community and are accurately simulated. Still, this doesn't make them infallible. As a paying customer, I found PMDG's reaction to be dismissive. After a back and forth with support, the best answer I got on the pitch/trim issue was "I'll pass it along to the team." Since then, there has been no explanation of the changes to the FBW logic in SP1 other than that it's being "tweaked." PMDG, to my knowledge, hasn't publicly explained what the expected pitch behavior should be, other than the initial response of "we got it right the first time." A few of us, I feel, have shown that it certainly doesn't work as described in the manual and have corroborated that the current FBW pitch behavior is unrealistic with 777 pilots outside the PMDG team. I'm not a 777 driver myself, I'm not going to claim that I know more than PMDG does. But if they feel that the behavior is correct, I think that as paying customers we are at least owed an explanation of how its supposed to work. PMDG has a reputation for the outstanding accuracy of its simulations, and overall the 777 is no exception. But having bought a product based on their reputation and the advertising of the depth of the simulation, I expected more. I understand that its impossible to get everything right in an initial release, but I feel that the response of the company to this issue has been lacking. I really enjoy flying the 777, but every time I hit the AP DISCO switch on approach, I know I'm going to be fighting the airplane all the way to the ground. It's frustrating. I just wish PMDG would be a little more forthcoming on this one.

I submitted, or attempted to submit, an application through the ticket system, it's not showing up under my submitted tickets. Did PMDG remove the application tickets from the system or did mine not go through? I didn't want to submit a duplicate ticket.

I have to agree, though it seems clearly related to the 777's programming as well since I don't have any issues with other aircraft. It would be nice to see some kind of update from PMDG in the known issues thread.

I think your problem may be that you need to push the ALT knob again after the mode changes to VNAV ALT, this should change the mode back to VNAV PTH.

I've tried both FSUIPC setups, doesn't seem to change the problems on my setup. Has anyone else gotten a ticket response from PMDG?

I have to figure this is a setup issue that is affecting a relatively small percentage of the 777X userbase. Seems to me that there are identifiable problems for a few of us, I don't think everyone is flying around with the same issues that we're talking about here. Stated another way, my hunch is that the problem is less with PMDG's programming on how the airplane behaves than it is some interaction in some of our FS setups. Are other people seeing the yoke jerk around in manual flight? video here: (way shorter than the last one)

I put in a support ticket and have been going back and forth with Paul Gollnick on the issues we've been discussing in this thread. He's cleared up a couple of the behaviors we've been seeing. I think we've established that #2 and #5 are, in fact, correct behaviors for the aircraft. The trim response that I'm seeing WRT #5 seems more aggressive than what he's describing, but again I'm no expert here. I'm still not sure about the trim switch response issues. I need to do some more investigation on that one. I'm also fairly certain that with no weather in FSX I shouldn't be getting uncommanded maneuvers as a result of wind shifts or turbulence, but again, more investigation required. I did try a short flight last night with my FSUIPC settings modified per the instructions on Page 1, things seemed better but I didn't have enough time to objectively test anything. What controllers are you guys using? I have an uneducated hunch that the trim may be inhibited by control spikes.

Yes Kyle, I want to have my cake and eat it too. You have a point there. It's a cool feature on shorter hauls, but a bit annoying on long hauls. To me, it would make sense for it to auto inhibit (and I really can't imagine it would be that difficult to program), but it's not a big deal to turn it off entirely.

Flight plan disappearing when selecting STAR en-route
Forgive me for any inaccuracies here as I've not finished reading the manuals and I don't have them in front of me, but the 777 has a function that will prompt you with the IAP initial fix after selecting the procedure at line 6R. If you hit LSK6R then EXECUTE, it will dump the flight plan and make your active leg to the initial fix. If you EXECUTE without selecting 6R, it will append the procedure to your active flight plan.

I'm a bit flummoxed by autotrim as well, I've had a hard time getting it to do what I want. Does the FBW change trim (or reference speed) in response to column inputs too? It seems like when I give column input the airplane seems to start to run out of elevator authority (e.g. the nose stops pitching). When I release that input the airplane feels like it retrims itself and I can add the same column input and the airplane will respond more along the lines of what I would expect. I experienced this with a very light load shooting touch and go's at MWH. If I want to reduce airspeed in level flight I should just reduce thrust and not touch the trim, or should I reduce thrust and hit the trim switches?
