Maybe time to more indepth expalantion about what to expect

Featured Replies

It´s now approximaty 6 month since the 777 was released.

Bugs where reported quite fast and a buglist has existed for quite some time (though expanding)

We have been told at least twice now that that beta testing of SP1 was emminent, but still it is very silent about what holds up SP1.

I think it´s fair when a development ompany don´t like fully transparent windows of whats going on, but I find it´s time now to tell people what exactly is holding of SP1.

PMDG told that beta testing was planned for more than a week ago and that they would tell when it was started. Equally I think it wold be nice to know why it did not happen.

I agree that the 777 isn´t unflyable, but at the same time I also think that people should be made aware what the probelms are that makes it impossible to release SP1.

I´m not mentioning the 300ER simply because I see it as a sepaerate product that might coincide with SP1.

Personally I won´t buy the 300ER before I have seen a smooth release of SP1.

I don´t expect all bugs to have been fixed with SP1.

I own all FSX related PMDG addons (J-41, 747-400 / 800i, MD-11, 737-600-900, 777) and like them alot, but updates are always slow comming. SP1 for the 737 NGX took along time too and we are still waiting for SP2.

Hello FinnJ,  Not being privy to the makeup of the PMDG hierarchy, nevertheless, some one with the title Commercial Member like yourself, I would have thought may have been given some information re the progress of the SP1 etc., as this seems to be not the case, I am a bit surprised. So this really puts you in the same position as the rest of us re the lack of recent updating.  Richard Welsh.

I agree it is taking a long time, perhaps longer than PMDG expected.

There is no point in complaining (although I have nothing against voicing opinions) about things out of our control. I am sure we'll have more information in a couple of weeks. Until then we just wait, you said yourself that the plane isn't unflyable.

We don't have to know anything - there is no obligation for PMDG to inform us. They're developing programs and at least we're getting a patch. Many products I've bought have never seen a patch, at all.

Kind regards,

Luke Bischoff

Olli4740..

I perfectly know that the 300ER won´t be released before SP1 but rather be released together with SP1.

Richard..

Being a "Commercial memeber" dos not mean that I get any other info about other developers inner workings.

I develope for another FSX company in my sparetime, but is a normal paying customer at PMDG.

The reason I post here is simply that I find the silence to have lasted too long and some explanation to be required other than the ordinary "it will be released when ready".

On my own projects I would never have chosen this approach, as those who knows me might know.

It´s fair not to reveal too much about whats being fixed or enhanced, but hand on heart I find that we have been in the dark about progress too long. The PMDG 777 is not exactly the cheapest addon around, so some sort of more detailed feedback would be fair.

Nycdude66...

This post IS a complaint and I wonder the stance alot of people have regarding PMDG. Most other FSX develepeors would never have been "allowed" by their costumers to keep silent that long time without alot more flaimng and rage.

I really like PMDG and the indepth simulations they are producing, but I don´t see why they should have more leeway than others regarding updates and requests/demands about feedback on current state of fixes.

Note: I´m not working on any competitve projects to PMDG at all and all I post here is on my own personal account as a normal customer of PMDG.

I guess it's about time for an in-depth explanation by you!

Hello FinnJ,  Thanks for the info, I am more knowledgable of the meaning Commercial Member.  Richard Welsh.

Good post but I think you are going to get a lot of prop-wash from the fan boys that are the self proclaimed PR wing of PMDG and dont like rocking the boat.

Oliver it's been over 6 months. This leads me to believe the 777 was not even close to ready when it first appeared. However, I am sure that we will have an update that states how the beta version is imminent and then nothing for two months until the hype goes away.

I expected this.

While I´m not part of the ###### crowd I'm still a fan of PMDG's addons.

It´s just that I have seen releases from other addon publishers that also needed patches, updates and servicepacks, where the community did not offer the same patience, but demanded much faster feedback.

It has almost become religious to who are backed and who are not and I don´t find it fair this way.

It´s Ok if PMDG got problems with their SP1 for the 777 and want to fix them first, but to keep us totally in the dark is not what is accepted elsewhere in this business.

7 months has passed now since the 777 was released. We have been told at least twice now that beta testing of the patch was scheduled for "next week". Thats fine, but those weeks has passed and no information has been given why they did not start.

I´m not asking about a set date for release, cause I know this cannot be given, but at least som words about whats holding up the patch would be nice, just to give us an idea where we stand.

Had the 777 not been released yet, then I agree that PMDG don´t need to inform us, but since we allready put money into a product that needs to be fixed, I don´t find it to be wrong to ask about where we are.
