August 14, 200520 yr Had to remove the definition in the FS9 key assignments, then FSUIPC was free to assign it to one of the CH buttons.Works great now.* Orest-~~~~~~~~~Orest Skrypuchwww.united-virtual.comUAL1445 Staff ORDFO Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
August 14, 200520 yr OK all of the post here have convinced me to buy it. I will get it this week. I do agree that this is one of the more significcant technologies for FS. Hats off to those who created it.I have one silly question. Let's say I am doing a visual approach with left traffic pattern. I look back over my left shoulder to see if I am 45 degrees from the nd of the runway as I do in real life. How the heck can I see the Monitor? I take it there is a scale that calibrates the range of motion to one that has you still looking forward somewhat. I will say that this is something that sounds like I will turn on and off during a flight because a couple of hours of looking out of the corners of my eyes could give me a head ache. What we need are some VR glasses to play Battle fo Britain II. When I am 90 degrees to the groun pulling up to bank hard, I want to look out of the top of my canopy to get our relative motion, by looking straight up.dlm9000
August 14, 200520 yr helloyou only have to move your head a small amount to get a large movement on screen, you are also able to set a deadzone for each axis and can set up the ratio of head movement to increase gradually the further away you get from your heads straight on position. After a while it becomes very natural.I would recommend that you get the vector attachment at the same timeas this really makes the TrackIr a must have bit of kit.
August 15, 200520 yr I'm a huge fan as well. Can't fly without it now.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
August 15, 200520 yr Does it have the vertical axis? (Can you 'raise seat' if you lift your head a bit?)http://web.mit.edu/invent/www/ima/images/i...dy/ma_intro.jpg
August 15, 200520 yr hello thereYes with the vector attachment you can move on all axis, so you can lean forward and up to look over the cowl or lean over a bit to see down the side of a taildragger on takeoff and taxi.basically you have the same range of motions available as you do when you are driving your car or flying in a real cockpitwith TrackIr on its own you can pan/look up,down and left, rightthe vector clip add all the other axis so you have freedom to move in your seat as in the real world.
August 15, 200520 yr I got my Track IR Pro with Vector about 6 months ago. For the first couple of months I hated it.The F1 key is programmed to freeze the Tracker action and I was constantly hitting it. It would almost make me dizzy sometimes, while I tried and tried to edit the file controlling it. I even posted that I would sell mine for 1/4 of the price I paid. Then they came out with a revised software, which made it usable and now I fly with it everytime. I am reluctant, however, to recommend it to people because I think some people will love it and some will hate it. A couple of hundred dollars is alot to shell out for something that you might not like using, and I warn people that this might be the case. I have read other posts of people not liking the fact that they have to hold their head basically in one position , and when they look down for their keyboard or off to the side quickly, the view on their monitor is shifting all over. To sum it all up, if you like it, it's great. If you don't, you will be sorry you spent the money on it.
August 15, 200520 yr It's very useful if you love virtual cockpit and fly more the general aviation than airliners. Also, extremely cool in IL2 Forgotten Battles for example. I'm more like an IFR and airliner buff, so I decided to sell mine. You can have a look here:http://cgi.ebay.com/TrackIR-3-Pro-w-VECTOR...1QQcmdZViewItemIt's ending very soon, but maybe who really wants it for such a good price (TrackIR 3Pro + Vector Expansion), then should give it a try.
August 15, 200520 yr As I am sure we all know, there is a difference between sliding your seat up and zooming in and out. Zooming affects your perspective on the world and sliding your seat up is change in position in the world (changing eypoint) When I lean forward with TrackIR, is the world outside the cockpit going to zoom in and out, or is my position in the cockpit going to change? dlm9000
August 15, 200520 yr Your position in the cockpit changes. It is very cool. Want to get a better look at that GPS map? Just lean forward. Is that center pillar on the windshield blocking your veiw? Just lean a bit to the side. Are you in an open cockpit taildragger and trying to taxi? Just lean to the side so you can look around the nose. Banking to the left in search of the runway? Just turn your head to the left so you can look out the side window. As has been pointed out already, you don't have to make big motions. I probably turn my head only 3 or 4 inches to look out the side. After awhile, you don't think about it. You just to move to look and your view changes.TonyOnce you get the hang of it, it is very simple and intuitive.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
