November 16, 200421 yr I have been trying to figure out what the purpose or use is of E-Dimensional's TrackIR. I just d/l a couple of demo videos at their website but I am not sure I see what this product does. Can anybody who uses this enlighten me? Is it amazing? Why?(I was actually wondering for some time about getting the E-Dimensional 3-D glasses....)JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 16, 200421 yr JS,There are tons of posts on this here in this forum. I, for one, have found TrackIR to be the most significant addition I have ever made to FS. Most of the people who put it down have never tried it and have no idea of its potential. Simply stated, if my TrackIR broke and I couldn't buy another, I doubt I could use flight sim anymore. Imagine spending your whole day with your head fixed straight ahead with blinders on - that is the sim experience TrackIR users no longer have to live with. My two cents, but you will find about $1.50 more that I have contributed in the past! Good luckDavid
November 16, 200421 yr Author David:Thanks. I shall search now for some posts.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 16, 200421 yr I second David's opinion. Bought the IR2 this past spring and have, to turn a phrase "always looked back". Easy set up. Most valuable making a sharp turn to short final, or when all is on autopilot and the opportunity arises to just look around. You might be amazed at what you are missing out the window without it. Really makes the VC features of FS9 stand out. Can use the hat button for trim now. The 2 red buttons and rocker switch on the left of my CH yoke can control if the Track IR2 is on or off, or to zoom in or out. I have no complaints about gauges not being readable. I usually have it off for takeoff and on short final, and on most of the other time. The amount you have to turn your head is scaleable, so there is little effort to distract from the issues at hand in the cockpit ( or out of it ). If I had more time, I would certainly upgrade to the new version. Very happy with the TrackIR2. Well worth the price of a few extra addons. Just wish my 'puter had the horsepower to fly low and slow with all the settings turned up. I do not think you would be disappointed. "... speed ... is the only reason for flying." - Clyde V. Cessna
November 16, 200421 yr This is an amazing bit of Hard/Software. Got it last Christmas. . .I must say that I did return it however. The video drivers supplied were not the greatest for my system. You must use compatible drivers. I have heard that there are more updated one available now. I'd check out that situation before I purchased. Terry

August 14, 200520 yr > The 2 red buttons and rocker switch on the left of my CH yoke can control if the Track IR2 is on or off, or to zoom in or out. How did you set that up? I've been trying to link the CH button to the on/off TrackIR button (set to F10) with FSUIPC, doesn't seem to do anything. Previously had that button set for TO/GA, worked fine for that.* Orest-~~~~~~~~~Orest Skrypuchwww.united-virtual.comUAL1445 Staff ORDFO Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
August 14, 200520 yr Hello thereYou are wrong when you state that you must use "compatible video drivers" the drivers supplied are not video drivers they are the track Ir profile software and usb drivers.TrackIr will work with any video drivers.
August 14, 200520 yr Hello thereYou can use the trackir software to set up the buttons, it is under the hotkeys menu tab when you double click on the name of a profile.you may have to remove the default mappings in the FS9 assignments menu( kneeboard and Map i think)The TrackIr software intercepts the DX9 buttons before Flightsim sees them.
August 14, 200520 yr helloIn simple terms imagine having the movement of a hat button directly attached to your head, a small head movement allows you to pan around the VC as you would in a realworld aircraft or car.with the addition of the vector attachment you can also move in , out and side to side and also roll your head to the side.
August 14, 200520 yr I got their latest and greatest 6D and I have stopped using it. It gives me a headache. It basically hijacks your head.I now have spend a little more money have three monitors in front..planning to another one for my left Window. I use WideView. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
August 14, 200520 yr Hello mannyStick with it, it can take a long time to get really comfortable with the motion but is really worth the effort, start with a large deadzone and low speed on all axis then bring in the deadzone gradually.I found that the default settings were too sensitive for me i also dont use the roll axis
August 14, 200520 yr I'm another big fan of the track IR. It's really great in FS2004, and a BIG help in Pacific Fighters. Just be aware before you buy that they don't have their 64 bit drivers out yet...which frustrates me beyond belief since the coming of XP 64 wasn't exactly a secret!
