September 11, 201312 yr I've been fancying a new off-line ATC program for some time, and have been very interested in Pro ATC X. I've watched a ton of videos on YouTube, and there's just one thing that consistantly bothers me about what I see;- During take-off clearances, for IFR airliner flights, I keep seeing the tower give 'odd' initial altitude clearances, such as ;- Cleared for take-off, runway heading, climb and maintain 4300 feet (4,300?) Cleared for take-off, follow published SID, climb and maintain FL095 (95 ... ?) I think you get the idea! ......... why is Pro ATC X always appearing to give 'off' altitude clearances, eg, 4,300 rather thatn 4,000 and FL095, instead of FL090 ? Is it just that in the vids I've seem, people aren't setting it up correctly, or does it really give those clearances? Cheers.
September 11, 201312 yr Yes, it gives those odd clearances. Have a deeper look into their forum and also some threads here. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
September 11, 201312 yr Thanks for the heads up about their forum (I didn't know they had one). I've just been over there and was concerned to see many complaints and disappointed buyers; the developers have (according to a number of posters on the forum) all but left the forum and the only support provided is from fellow users. It appears there are many quirks and bugs, and after a lot of inital updates, there have not been any since May. Definitely giving this one a miss just now.
September 11, 201312 yr Definitely giving this one a miss just now. Keep well away from it Dave. I think it maybe dead in the water. Even the support guru Clive (Alpha117) has done a runner. September 11, 201312 yr Cheers Julian. Must admit I was totally oblivious to this one, as haven't really followed any threads on it. I do recall some users being very excited and impressed with it initially, but the Pro ATC X forum is almost embarassing for the lack of response to some posts, by the Devs or even forum staff. Done a runner ha ha! .... love that phrase. It sounds like he has mate!
September 12, 201312 yr Might be a good time for all to track back old forums to see all those members who were pushing Pro ATC like it was gona fly to space. So that when you see those same members giving promising reviews about some new buggy beta software you know what to tell them to do with their opinion on how much money you got to waste. I moved from RC4 to PFE, as far as i am concerned dated as PFE is, its the best out there right now with no near competition, when you add other functions it adds besides just ATC. Start noting the names of those members who push products that end up dead in the water. I also purchased this product very early on, one look was all it took to remove it from my system. All that money wasted on Pro ATC could have gone to improve PFE for the sim community. Anyway, see you on the next buggy beta product HYPE thread. But folks please track back old threads and check for those pushing Pro ATC, just so you know what to make of their future comments and reviews.
September 12, 201312 yr ProATCX is a gamble right now - will they enhance and fix it, or will those of us foolish enough to have already parted with our money be left high and dry? Communication from the developer is at Mary Celeste levels, so investing in it is an act of faith right now. It works on a basic level but has some flaws , as I think you have observed. I'd say wait and see, but if you like a gamble...
September 12, 201312 yr Yes it gives less than perfect altitudes, but that surely can't be the end-all for this app.. It works well enough for me... and what other ATC is there ? 1 - Vox ATC .. 2 - Radar Contact * which I own * 3 - PFE .. somewhat dated and no more or less robotic than Radar Contact..
September 12, 201312 yr - PFE .. somewhat dated and no more or less robotic than Radar Contact.. Credit where credit is due Jim, PFE has the least of the robotic voices, the deluxe version anyway with additional voice pack. It also has the ability to recognise most airline call signs. I thought when I purchased PATC, that it was going to be a game changer, I still hold out hope. If the forum should disappear, then I will get really worried. As I posted in another thread further down, PATC does not work in NZ, and requests to have it looked at have been ignored, not only by Clive, but also the dev. September 12, 201312 yr I have the FS 9 PFE .. I might try to dust it off and see how much to upgrade to FSX version....
September 12, 201312 yr I have the FS 9 PFE .. I might try to dust it off and see how much to upgrade to FSX version.... I know the PFE dev is still active on the OnCourse forum, even though development has ceased. If you need further info Jim, feel free to PM me. You cant compare PFE to radar contact, it more involved and has a lot more functions than RC4. PFE is by far more livley and functional than RC4 RC4 is more robust than PFE, but i prefer to have fun so chose PFE, though it fails sometimes. PFE ATC has more things you can tweak to tune the ATC experience to your liking.
