Flight test kit, strange ext. lights behaviour and other bugs...

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

just did my first full flight in the 777, taking the FDX 77F on a short 53 mins hop from LFPG to EDDK.

I am absolutely impressed with the level of detail and system depth of the 777, however it took me three restarts of FSX and my computer to finally get her ready for engine start and I still noticed a bunch of bugs.

Well, maybe I made the "mistake" to start her from COLD&DARK... and the "mistake" to try changing panel states?!  That seems to be a very vulnerable point of the PMDG 777.

So here are my observations:

- Aircraft was equipped with the flight test package although not activated in the options. With engines running the flight test package disappeared.

- NAV Lights were not illumianted although switched ON

- BEACON was continuously illuminated instead of blinking

- Engine blades were somehow only 2D instead of 3D and not visually turning when engines were running

- Master CAUTION light always illuminated

- ILS didn't auto-tune

Apart from these errors/bugs, I was very pleased with the filght. I even tried a manual landing right on this first flight and I dare say this was one of the smoothes landings I ever made in years of flight simming... She's a really great aircraft! B)

Anyone else encountered those bugs listed above, especially the first ones which are not yet on Ryan's bug tracking list?

Best regards

Olli

You might have reloaded a PMDG plane upon itself. If you do that, there are many undesired effects because of it. Whenever you have to reload the plane restart flightsim in order to do it. It causes issues with complex aircraft.

ILS is a known bug. Delete ISL Freq. and set in manually in FMC.

Hi

I have had the same flight test package appearing when not selected and then disappearing once the engine starts. I reinstalled the 777 and this time did not install my VOX ATC panel and it no longer happens. I was wondering if you use VOX ATC as that could be the problem. I would  also be interested if .you don't use VOX ATC as it must then be something else and I can then use VOX with the 777.

I get the non blinking beacon in the 737 NGX and a few other missing warning lights. I am about to reinstall the NGX minus VOX ATC to see if that curers the problem.

Nope, I didn't reload it ontop of itself.

This is what I did: First I started FSX (always after fresh reboot of the computer) and loaded the 77F in its default state with engines running. Then I loaded the cold&dark panel state, waited a minute and then commenced with the power-on procedure and preliminary procedure. Everything fine so far. Then I noticed I had to do the Couatl live update for GSX to support the 777, so I did this, closed FSX afterwards, rebooted the computer and restarted FSX. Again loaded the 777 in default state but then put it into the "LONG" panel state since I didn't want to power her up again. However, in the LONG state, the FMC wasn't working i.e. the LSK1L "FMC" option did not show on the FMC MENU page. Confused by this I decided to put her into COLD&DARK again and power her up from the very beginning. This however didn't succeed as the airplane showed no reaction after starting the APU. Waited more than five minutes but nothing happened. So I closed FSX again, rebooted the PC once more and restarted FSX the second time. Then, when loading the 777, the flight test kit was already showing on the rotating aircraft in the menu and also when she was sitting on the ramp. I checked in the FMC but the test kit was disabled. I even enabled and disabled it once but it still remained there. But I didn't want to restart FSX a third time so I decided to ignore it and continue. Later on the walkaround I also noticed that graphic problem with the fan blades and the exterior lights.

No, I am not using VOX ATC. - Did you get this beacon problem on the NGX only after installing the 777 or already before? - Think I need to check my NGX right now...

I have had the beacon problem for a couple of months

What plane is selected when you first start FSX?

The default Ultralight.

Just made another flight, this time no bugs, not even a single one. (Loaded the acft in default state and then switched to "Short").

Once more: No, I did definitely not load the aircraft on top of itself, I restarted FSX and even rebooted the computer inbetween!
