  1. Hi guys, one question: One the HiFi website it says that AS16 needs P3D version 3.2.3+, but I'm still on v.3.1 and currently don't have the time and nerves to mess around with updating P3D. So, does it really not work with v.3.1 at all? Anyone maybe tried it? Thanks a lot and best regards Olli
  2. Have you been able to resolve the issue meanwhile? Or does anyone else have experience with using a migration tool (for sceneries) and PMDG planes in P3Dv3? Just asking because I just recently switched to P3Dv3 and I am planning on using the EMT tool for installing Tongass Fjords X while I'm also about to buy the P3D versions of the NGX and 777... Kyle, are these problems somehow resolvable (without uninstalling everything) or is it generally not possible to use a migration tool before or after installing a PMDG product in P3Dv3? I hope this will also be done? :ph34r: And I still did not really get whether the -8 will be an expansion to the -400 or a separate product, as it appears from Robert's last update that there are two seperate teams working on the two versions...?! :huh: Anyway, the screenshots are looking fantastic!   4. Two little questions in regard to this: 1. Will the additional FO voice sets that come with Emergency NGX also be included in Reboot? 2. Will the abnormal procedures again only work with the AU voice set? Thanks a lot, looking forward to Reboot! ^_^ Olli
  5. You can manually back-up the AIRAC files. Just go to your FSX main folder, open the PMDG folder and then copy the NAVDATA and SIDSTARS folders to a temporary location, so you can paste them back after reinstallation.
  6. Thanks a lot for the update, Robert! One question regarding the "DVD solution": I am a DVD customer but I don't want to use the FSX:SE version, just the "normal" FSX version. - Will there be a Service Pack available for the old FSX version (without FSX:SE), or do I have to wait for the alternative solution including FSX:SE even if I don't need SE-compatibility?

  8. Just completed my first test flight. Let's say it's a solid FS2Crew product, but somehow nothing special about it, and seemingly even less detail and functionality than in previous products. Like the lack of functionailty connected to the audio panel, missing push back, missing de-icing prodcedures, ... Okay, I know, for the latter two there will be UGCX coming at some point in time, but since that might still take a couple of month, it somehow impairs the first impression of the 777 FS2Crew... Also I agree with Peter in this point: So in conclusion... 1. Some basic standards like with the NGX: Audio panel needs to be set-up properly for talking to ground/FA/PA (maybe just as a CFG option) and PA button on the audio panel opens the FS2Crew PA panel. 2. Some long-haul specific things like Oceanic/ETOPS procedures, e.g. a simulated Selcal check by the FO. Anyway... keep the good work up, Bryan - and make it even better... :ph34r: ^_^

I'm also looking for a good ATC add-on with regional accents and think PFE would be the best in this respect, however I found on an other thread here on AVSIM that there are quite some disadvantages of PFE. The biggest issue seems to be a very cumbersome configuration and usage. Before each flight you need to convert and load your flightplan into PFE, then define the departure and arrival runways and manually program the SIDs and STARs, etc. Also PFE seems unable to adapt to changing wind direction at the arrival airport, at least when using a third-party weather engine. These are the reasons why I'm still hesitating to buy it... In general, ATC Add-ons do not seem to be quite popular. Searching for PFE on youtube I could hardly find any videos showing it in action. And it seems there are a couple of ATC add-ons each having their specific advantages but all of them also having some severe disadvantages making them a no-go for me... :unsure:

    Just came across this thread by coincidence and happened to find what I've always been searching for... a good and non-robotic ATC addon - PFE! :biggrin: Absolutely didn't know PFE before and wanna buy it instantly ^_^, however... WHERE?!?!?! I searched at Aerosoft, simMarket, FlightSimStore, no PFE anywhere... And I even didn't find some type of official developer's website for PFE on the first Google search... :huh: Can anyone help?

I'm also just thinking about upgrading my FSX to the new products. :huh: Currently I am using no mesh add-on, GSX (Europe, North America), UTX (Europe, USA, Canada, Alaska), REX 2 (+ ASN) (and the FTX NA regions). What I am considering now is to switch to FS Global 2010, FTX Global, Vector, openLC (when available) and REX 4 (+ ASN) A major investment of course, so my main questions are: Is FSGlobal 2010 mesh really worth its price? I also had some doubt when looking at the comparison screenshots... How about the DX10 compatibility of FTX Global? I am using DX10 mode now in order to prevent OOMs (was lucky enough to get Steve's DX10 fixer couple weeks ago... now it isn't sold any longer for whatever reason :blink:) Since uninstalling GSX, UTX and REX 2 and then installing all the new products is a major change to the FS installation, I am afraid this might somehow brake my FSX so I would have to reinstall everything from scratch?! :unsure: I'm wondering if I should keep UTX Alaska and somehow combine it with the FTX Global products, since UTX Alaska seems to be very detailed and hence might be more detailed than FTX Global?? Maybe anyone has some experience to share in regard to these questions?! Thanks a lot! :smile2:
  15. Hey 777 experts out there, I was just wondering about the procedure for rejected takeoffs, with regard to the speedbrakes. Found this video of an RTO in a 777 Sim on youtube. At 1:11 an engine failure occurs and the captain does the following: 1. pull the thrust levers back to idle 2. deploy the speedbrakes 3. set reverse thrust. That's also how it's written in the QRH. But now I coincidentally found that on the PMDG 777, as soon as you pull the reverser levers, the speedbrake will automatically open. So now I'm wondering whether this is the real airplane's behaviour (and since it is PMDG, I believe it is :wink:) and why do you first manually set the speedbrakes and then the reverse thrust, when the speedbrake would automatically deploy on activating the reverser??? Maybe anyone can shed a bit of light on this? Best regards Olli

  17. Just did a test flight with the trial version of ASN and I will definitely buy it. Really impressive! B) Though using the same REX textures as before, I got the impression that the clouds and whole atmosphere is looking really totally different (and much better) than before. And for the first time I noticed a bit of turbulence on the 777 even though the wx conditions were actually not that bad. Winds and turbulence simulation also seems much more real now. I had never thought that ASN would take simulation somehow to a new level, but it really does! :good: By the way, will the 777 SDK be released together with SP1? - I'm asking because of FS2Crew... can't wait to have my first officer in the right seat. :wink:

  19. Hey guys, is it possible to enter coordinates as custom waypoint into the CDU FIX page on the NGX? Since adding the 777 to my fleet, I am recently trying to make myself a bit more familiar with ETOPS procedures and learned that during ETOPS operations the FIX page is used to draw distance rings around the diversion Airports in order to see the ETOPS entry and exit points and that the ETP point's coordinates can as well be entered into the FIX page (at least on the 777). Now I was just trying the same on the NGX, however I failed to enter the ETP coordinates into the FIX page. I tried it with the format Nxxxx.xWxxxxx.x and also with NxxWxxx, both resulted in "INVALID ENTRY" message. Any experience with this? Thanks and best regards Olli
  20. Once more: No, I did definitely not load the aircraft on top of itself, I restarted FSX and even rebooted the computer inbetween!
  21. Just made another flight, this time no bugs, not even a single one. :smile: (Loaded the acft in default state and then switched to "Short").
  22. Nope, I didn't reload it ontop of itself. This is what I did: First I started FSX (always after fresh reboot of the computer) and loaded the 77F in its default state with engines running. Then I loaded the cold&dark panel state, waited a minute and then commenced with the power-on procedure and preliminary procedure. Everything fine so far. Then I noticed I had to do the Couatl live update for GSX to support the 777, so I did this, closed FSX afterwards, rebooted the computer and restarted FSX. Again loaded the 777 in default state but then put it into the "LONG" panel state since I didn't want to power her up again. However, in the LONG state, the FMC wasn't working i.e. the LSK1L "FMC" option did not show on the FMC MENU page. Confused by this I decided to put her into COLD&DARK again and power her up from the very beginning. This however didn't succeed as the airplane showed no reaction after starting the APU. Waited more than five minutes but nothing happened. So I closed FSX again, rebooted the PC once more and restarted FSX the second time. Then, when loading the 777, the flight test kit was already showing on the rotating aircraft in the menu and also when she was sitting on the ramp. I checked in the FMC but the test kit was disabled. I even enabled and disabled it once but it still remained there. But I didn't want to restart FSX a third time so I decided to ignore it and continue. Later on the walkaround I also noticed that graphic problem with the fan blades and the exterior lights. No, I am not using VOX ATC. - Did you get this beacon problem on the NGX only after installing the 777 or already before? - Think I need to check my NGX right now... :wacko:
