Does anybody know WHY the roll axis for TrackIR is disabled? Austin? What are You thinking?

It is so natural to roll Your head to match the horizon while rolling the aircraft. This simulator is coming along so beautifully! What a sensation of flight! Suspended from a wing thats supported by molecules of gas. Believable hights and distances. Actual wind. Lights, colors, reflections, shadows, detailed textures all make for convincing visuals. all this and I cant tilt my head? Five degrees of freedom??? but not the sixth? Come on Austin, #####?

I've been wondering the same. Maybe there's a plugin that allows it? 64bit compatible please.

Yeah, but the screen of your computer is the windscreen of your aircraft. Matching your head with the horizon can disturb your sense for the actual position and lead to slips, uncoordinated turns and skids.

See the head position in coordinated turn, as result of certain forces which are not worked against. It can cause an unwanted forward slip if your head is aligned to the horizon instead to the nose of your plane:

Of course, as we are talking about desktop flight simulation, we don't have real senses anyway ...

Google pilotview plugin x plane.

This has native I/R support along with many other viewing options.

If you use it make sure you turn off I\R support in XP's options.

I am using it 64 bit XP 10.22 ok

Didn't notice if I had roll or not, to busy looking at the countryside outside the side window and back to instruments B)

Mario, I'm talking about looking out of the window, not about trying to qualify for space shuttle test pilot. I'm aware of what You are talking about. And NO the monitors on My sim are what ever I happen to be looking at not just the windshield. Thanks for Your helpful and informative input.

thanks Trevg, Yes I have used it before with 32bit vers. it had roll then. Maybe Austin left it out for the same reason of what Mario posted. I just thought by now it would be implemented or someone would know WHY
