Are you seriously implying that motion blur doesn't play a part in the matter? If so, than its fairly obvious you aren't actually basing your opinion on anything other than your own personal biases...http://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/graphics/x_motion.htmhttp://digilander.libero.it/F1Land/3dfxarc...motionblur.htmlhttp://members.shaw.ca/victorfilmgroup/vidfilm1.htmhttp://director-online.com/buildArticle.php?id=962http://www.2learnfilm.com/webal_DFS/cinematography.htm

>Are you seriously implying that motion blur doesn't play a>part in the matter? If so, than its fairly obvious you aren't>actually basing your opinion on anything other than your own>personal biases...yes very seriouslyI have said it by now probably 10 times but I will repeat for you one more time --you tell me where is motion blurr in Disney animation movies from 1930-ties ????? If you find one you may have a point but until then it is all poppy ####.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

AH, you meant specifically in relation to animation. OK, now I get you. Well, as I said before, I can detect suttering and jerkiness even in disney films when I really look for it. If you can't, so be it. Perhaps I'm more sensitive to it than you are. Disney's animation represents the absolute pinnacle of course. Watch an episode of the Simpson's and see if you can't see some jerky animation. :) I sure would love to see what a Disney animated film might look like if it were animated at 60fps though. :) I bet it'd be fantastic! But whether or not you choose to believe it, it does make a difference that we are only watching the animation as opposed to trying to maintain fine control over what's happening on screen. For instance, watching a replay of a dogfight in IL2 at 20 fps looks fine ftmp. But trying to actually get a bead on an enemy when the sim is running at 20fps is a different story altogether...

>suttering and jerkiness even in disney films when I really>look for it. I wish I could say this: I can detect jerkiness and stuttering in FS9 when my fps is 60 when I really look for it.The fact is I don't have to look for jerkiness and stuttering in FS9 since it is always there. Please someone give me the 'lousy' 24 fps and smoothness of Disney's animation in FS9 and I will be in Heaven. :-bigangelMichael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

Then again, last time I saw a Disney, it didn't strike me as action packed rollercoaster with an excess of camera movements.Maybe you should go into the movies or get a dvd and watch a recent action movie. Cinematography has come a long way since the 30s....Christian

You guys can do all the tweaking you want. Load up a third-party payware aircraft and fly into a scenery by Simflyers and you will be back in single digits (if your computer does not run out of virtual memory first).

I remember when I had NSACAR racing. It had an option of setting a max and min FPS. When the FPS went below the min, it automatically turned off some graphics options to keep it running smooth.Perhpas MS could've had that feature for FS?

>>I have yet>>to see a Disney classic with really smooth animations.>>Frankly, I don't believe you watched one in the last 10 years>no matter what you say. *:-*>That's why he didn't see it :)

The junks will never be happy no matter what performance they get.I've seen people claim they can see the difference between 100 and 101 fps clearly which is an obvious fabrication. The junks though will scream high and low that nothing is high enough. When we accept their statement that you need at least 60 fps they'll start to complain that 60 is too low and you really need 150...

Or release the next version every 4 years which would mean that after tweaking for 2 years we get another two of glorious sim flying.

Well I have seen Cinderella, snow white, piff and puff, donald duck, mickey mouse, robin hood and tons more every christmas ever since I was born. Though I can

You know what? I don't have any idea what you are talking about. Why is it that as soon as framerates become the topic of discussion there is this group of individuals who start claiming that anyone who considers them at all is a graphics ** and nothing more? Has a single person in this thread said anything at all about wanting or needing 100fps in FS9?? Has anyone indicated being able to tell the difference between 100 and 101 fps (an obvious instance of ridiculous hyperbole since anyone who would make such a claim would have to be a moron). No. In fact, I myself have noted that FS9 is perfectly flyable at framerates in the low twenties (which is the type of framerate I generally get in the sim). Am I a framerate junky? But theres no denying the sim (and any PC game really) is smoother, easier to control and more convincing at 30 fps, and even more so at 60. Once you get past 60 it starts to get more and more difficult to perceive the difference. What I'm disputing primarily is the silly notion that the human brain is incapable of handling more than 24fps. Please anyone who believes that feel free to show me any evidence you have to back the claim up...

This discussion reminds me of an old joke - An old lady contacts the local police, says there's a man exposing himself in the house opposite. The police come round to the ladies house, she shows them up to an upstairs room."See, you can see him from here - disgusting, shouldn't be allowed", she says."But you can't see into his house from here" says the policeman."Stand on the wardrobe! Stand on the wardrobe!" she says.Seems that some of the phenomena reported here can only be seen in extreme circumstances - in ordinary every-day flight, maybe the FPS wouldn't matter.Schofi

That's exactly true and really the whole point. Framerates don't matter a bit if all you are doing is flying slow and level - which is why most of us are fine with framerates in the low 20's in FS9. Its those extreme circumstances that make the issue really.
