September 15, 201312 yr I know I can have the average FPS displayed by adding AverageFrameRate to fsx.cfg but does someone know how this average FPS is calculated? Reason I ask is to me it seems this average counter is reset every know and then during a flight. I would rather like to have the average FPS from the moment when I start the flight with no resetting along the flight, is this possible to configure somehow?
September 15, 201312 yr It isn't possible from FSX itself. You will need an external program to have control over start and finish to measure average fps over a given period. I have found no documentation as to how FSX actually calculates the average fps. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
September 15, 201312 yr Look into FSUIPC4.log in "modules" folder. There you can find average FPS after each flight, along with other useful info. I think this FPS counter will reset only if you save flight, but even then you should have average FPS for entire flight Zeljko Budovic
September 15, 201312 yr Author Thanks for your input guys! Looking in the FSUIPC logfile is a great idea, didn't know the average FPS ended up in that file. Just had a look in that file and found my average FPS was 29.3 after flying ENVA-ESSA and since I have my FPS locked at 30 I guess I should be quite happy with that result
September 15, 201312 yr That I would be quite happy with! Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
September 15, 201312 yr i have locked 30fps too, that is very good average fps. I checked now, for my last flight i had average 28.8 fps, but my flight was YMML-OMDB with PMDG777, and ORBX YMML is not very fps friendly But still very smooth flight That I would be quite happy with! You should be able to get that performance with your system Zeljko Budovic

September 16, 201312 yr Look into FSUIPC4.log in "modules" folder. There you can find average FPS after each flight, along with other useful info. I think this FPS counter will reset only if you save flight, but even then you should have average FPS for entire flight FSUIPC.log is a truly useful file - I look at it after every flight to check on how much memory I have left available. This is particularly useful when playing around with parameters such as autogen, LOD radius and when using new addons that maybe potential memory 'hogs'. Gary
September 16, 201312 yr Author I fully agree, must admit I never really looked in this logfile before but it does contain lots of interesting info. FSUIPC must without doubt be the FS utility of all times!!
