November 13, 201312 yr Kind of an addendum question: Will the PMDG 777 work with the Opencockpits mastercard through SIOC? I'm planning on building an MCP, but I don't want to spend the time and money if it won't work. Thanks, Steve Good question, I would also like to know if I could use it with P3D and if so, whether anyone has any ideas about it's use with P3Dv2... Thanks, Steve I just bought the OC MCP/EFIS about a month ago and I do remember seeing that the T7 would work once PMDG releases the SDK. I believe that was from the guy that makes OC4BA. Check it out here: http://flightsim4fun.com/oc4ba-info.html Hey Kevin, what's your opinion on the build quality? Do the buttons sound solid enough and not too plasticky, and the switches, are they easy to move? November 13, 201312 yr Hey Kevin, what's your opinion on the build quality? Do the buttons sound solid enough and not too plasticky, and the switches, are they easy to move? I think the build quality is good. It's not like the CPFlight Pro, that's for sure but it's good. As for "plasticky" buttons...well, they are made of plastic I guess so they are "plasticky" but they seem to be good. Sorry, not exactly sure how to answer that one. I like the buttons, the feel of them and I don't feel there will be issues with them. The knobs are just the standard plastic knobs that you see on any of these type of devices in this price range(again, not like the "real" ones on the CPFlight Pro). The switches are easy to move and seem to be pretty solid. I don't see any issues with them now or in the long term. The two knobs on the EFIS(one for APP,VOR,MAP,PLN and the range knob) are pretty "hard" to turn. It takes more effort to turn them then the other ones. I'm not sure if that's how it is in a real 737 or what but they are definitely harder to turn. Overall, they are nice units. I've had the CPFlight EL series a couple years ago and these are right there with them. A little harder to configure then CPFlight was for me but still pretty easy(especially with the OC4BA stuff I mentioned earlier). I would definitely recommend them or the CPFlight EL. They are pretty close to the same if you ask me. Either are better than the GoFlight stuff IMO. They look more "real" than the GoFlight does. But, again, are a notch down from the CPFlight Pro. Be aware, I'm not sure if you need to specify when you order them or what, but the power supply that I received for the MCP(required) is a European type plug. I had to buy an adapter to convert it to US. So, depending on what type you have where you are from, that may be an issue. If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them... Thanks Kevin, appreciated. Sorry to sound so vague regarding the build quality question, it's a difficult thing to try and convey to someone with words. I had a look at the GoFlight MCP last year at a sim convention and I thought it was completely naff! It felt very plasticky and didn't make me want to own it. So you see it's difficult, as many guys obviously see it as being perfectly acceptable. The same analogy can be made with the plastic Saitek yokes, they are truly accepted as being probably the most popular yoke on the market, but for me I simply couldn't live with one, that's why I own an alloy Warthog. The feel and build quality is important to me as it helps with the whole immersion factor. I have been in contact with OC and they have responded within 24 hours which is always a good sign, more than a Korean company I could mention, who always seem to be on holiday! So, based on this, I'm not sure that the OC stuff would be what you want. Unless I'm interpreting you wrong. It sounds like you'd be most happy with the CPFlight Pro series stuff. That's going to give you the best feel and most realistic I think(I've never actually seen the Pro stuff in person though so hard to say with 100% certainty). Again, the OC stuff is good. I'm happy with it and have no problem recommending it. But, it's not going to give you the exact feel that you would get if you were sitting in the real cockpit. I've never seen the GoFlight unit in person either so I can't totally compare the two for feel. I just am going off of a lot of reviews on the web that say that GoFlight is at the bottom of the totem pole for quality. But, for as far as I know, they could feel the same.
