September 17, 201312 yr Jeez, there is a key short cut for this in FSX?! What the heck plane uses this?
September 17, 201312 yr That is used by the Acceleration racing P51 to allow a huge boost the in manifold pressure without ruining the engine. It can be mapped; it not something made to be used for very long since it'll be emptied in no time if one is not mindful. September 17, 201312 yr Do note that the P 51 racer overheats very badly if you don't open the radiator. The anti detonation system will let you run full boost and full rpm for a longer time. You will need to open those cooling flaps to save the water in the tank until you are ready to turn on the AD system and actually race. Don't forget to close the flaps once up to speed to save on drag.
September 17, 201312 yr Jeez, there is a key short cut for this in FSX?! There also is one for the Concorde nose. Pointing at the fact that previous FS versions had a default Concorde. As for anti detonation measures, check Wikipedia to see that it's used among a variety of engines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_injection_%28engines%29 Means piston and jet for example and you could take the A2A B377 to have an extra tank to manage. Early 707 variants also featured such systems for hot&high conditions I think. Add a B-52 (the plane!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYjRsfFg-KQ So I'd say Julian was pretty close. ^_^
