EFIS

Featured Replies

I have a question about EFIS detachable screens.

Somehow in T7 grabbing them is very difficult, frame area to catch is so narrow that i need to try many times until finally i can move screen.

In NGX things were not so difficult.

During night flight it is not possible for me to move them, simply cannot grab them.

My kind request - please at least give T7 EFIS same functionality and simplicity as NGX ( thicker grabbing frame or some hot spot ... ), if possible ...

In NGX things were not so difficult.

They weren't as difficult because they didn't need to have three functions for the screen.  In the 777, however, you use the screen with your mouse to be able to click the checklist (which has full range of that screen, thus the black border to grab it being the only place you can grab it), you need to be able to click them to pop them out, and you need to be able to move them.

In the NGX, the only things you needed to be able to do were pop the screen out, or move it.  Not having to give the mouse the full range of the screen as an "on screen" cursor made it easier to have a larger click spot to grab the screen.

The advantage to the 2D panels is that they don't move when they pop out, so just work at it a bit and you'll get the hang of it.

Kyle, thx for answer

Problem is that i am talking about those EFIS which are not showing ECL.

Those are same as NGX, without any extra function, and those are difficult to move...

Careful with the phrasing.  Here are the panels from left to right:

PFD - ND - Upper DU/Lower DU - ND - PFD

EFIS can be displayed not only on the Lower DU, but also on the Capt and FO NDs.  Because the EFIS info can be displayed on multiple screens, the ECL needs to be accommodated on multiple screens, requiring the reduced click spot range.

Gotcha - well the ND is out because, as you can see pictured above, the ECL can be placed there.  The PFD was probably just made similar to the rest for consistency.

I am not sure - but I believe that by playing with display transfer switches you can actually get the ECL to display on PFD...

I actually thought about it, but couldn't remember if I could actually get it that far over.  Either way, for its needs, I feel like what we've been given is adequate.  Just my opinion, though.
