September 20, 201312 yr Hi, I am finding that the constant jokey responses from the Co pilot are becoming annoying. Is there any way to reduce the responses to just those that are necessary to indicate that the instruction issued is understood /complied with? In essence to make him behave in a more professional manner. I really like the program other than for this annoyance. Regards Mike
September 20, 201312 yr Yes I feel the same way too sometimes about this. I also wish some replays could be more to the point. Telling me that something is the wrong answer to the checklist question takes awhile, after awhile.

Assuming you're running version 2.5.6.2 or higher, go to General tab of the user interface anc click <More options> button at the bottom right. Untick option <Enable Nagging> Tick option <Strict checklist> Note: This was possible since day one. It's just that earlier people had to edit the "mce.ini" config file manually. Now most relevant options are exposed in UI. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
September 25, 201312 yr Must admit that I've spilled my coffee more than once while Travis was responding to something. That is in the positive sense since I found it to be funny. But doesn't the change of the voice also change some of the character? So if you run the extra (free) copilot voices, you at least gain some variety, no?

Dieter, the German accent voice for instance will even speak some words in German (whether you like it or not :-))). Jean-Claude likes to throw the odd "Zut alors". Hopefully more people will come forward, so more free voice packs will be available. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
September 25, 201312 yr I don't have the more options tab I don't think. Maybe I don't have 2.5.6.2, us that the latest? I thought I had it, I have support for the Q400 and DC-9...ill look again I don't have the more options tab I don't think. Maybe I don't have 2.5.6.2, is that the latest? September 27, 201312 yr I have to agree with some of the comments about professionalism. The only thing I like about FS2Crew over MCE is the normal no-nonsense professionalism of the crew. I must admit I haven't tried Dieter or Jean-Claude. The most proffesional and natural sounding voice in MCE, in my opinion is Clive. But I typically fly domestic American flights, so I'm stuck with our old friend Trav, my name is Travis, that's ma name, but you can call me Trav. I've been doing the No Nagging and Profesional Checklists and ignore insults options in the .ini from the start, but I still can't stand the guy! The Flight Attendants too, at least the American one, is a bit too seductive sounding. I mean, it gave me a laugh at first, but when we really get down to the business of simulating a proffesionally crewed airliner in operation, I would rather the FA just be businesslike and normal rather than say everything in a bedroom voice.
September 27, 201312 yr Does that call for the same voice actors performing another set, but now kinda 'boring'? So you for example could switch from Trav to Trav pro. :Smug: The only problem I have with the purser voices would be their actual volume. Settings issue or does it also happen at your ends?
September 28, 201312 yr Commercial Member Does that call for the same voice actors performing another set, but now kinda 'boring'? So you for example could switch from Trav to Trav pro. It would be a big ask to voice actors. We aren't talking about less than 1000 recordings here. We don't do things in half measure, and included no less than 4200 recordings per voice pack. (files embedded say in foClive.dll) Lots of variations in replies. Sentences created on the fly (that's why sometimes they don't sound the greatest). It is designed so you don't alway know in advance what sentence FO would be speaking. For example, If we had just one static checklist to deal with, about 30 nice sounding recordings would cover it. Give users the ability to customize their checklists to match their real world or VA operation, and you are suddenly talking 1000+ recordings just to cover that aspect. September 28, 201312 yr I wonder if it would work to have a list in the ini file of "preferred" responses the user can edit. These responses can be for specific questions, or actions so say we know we like 20 responses so we can make it for a certain item or checklist that the FO will choose any of those 20. Does that make sense? So for the before start checklist lets say we choose 10 different responses the FO would use, we would be allowed to choose what we want but it would still be random. It alternatively have an entry for phrases we don't like, and as they come up we just add them to the list. Hope that's clear.... Lee
September 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member So for the before start checklist lets say we choose 10 different responses the FO would use, we would be allowed to choose what we want but it would still be random. Not sure I follow... There is nothing random with the checklist feature. We just allow users to type their own checklists if they wish, and we take it from there. FO looks at particular keywords to see which items need to be checked. Replies aren't random, but flexible enough to accept "verified", "tested", "check" where say the expected answer is "checked" For items expected "as required", if you reply "on" (or one of the equivalents) FO will check if it's really on. Same if you reply with "off". For unexpected items, FO will take your answer at face value. The random stuff is in the replies you get from FO for various acknowledgments. It's also available for the custom voice commands and replies you add under VoxScript. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
September 30, 201312 yr Author The random stuff is in the replies you get from FO for various acknowledgments. Hi, that's the stuff I would like some control over so as to cut out some of the annoying sarcasm and irritating off hand comments. Its not enough to put me off using the program but I much prefer the straightforward responses you get with fs2crew. Mike

October 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member I would like some control over so as to cut out some of the annoying sarcasm The "sarcasm" isn't part of the random replies. Some like it, others don't You can completely disable that as follows Assuming you're running version 2.5.6.2 or higher, go to <General> tab of the UI and click <More options> button at the bottom right of the panel. Under "Advanced options", untick option "Enable nagging". After that FO will confine himself to making standard call-outs only, even when the Monitoring feature is enabled. While you're there, enable option "Strict checklist" and FO will be very business like. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
