Cabin pressure over 10000 ft

Featured Replies

How do I set cabin altitude to over 10000 ft... ? That is as far as I can go...!?

Thanks

I just wanted to criticize you for not reading the manual but there are only limited docs available with just installing plane. Makes sense to search the forum for a link to the rw docs.

In the meantime, look for the space behind the power levers. There's the AP and the cabin pressure control. Should come with two scales on one dial. One scale is for the cruise alt while the other one shows the corresponding cabin alt. A small knob then sets the rate of change.

I have seen the cabin pressure control. I know where that is. And yes, I searched the forums. Guess hardly anybody flies this over 10000ft cruise so the topic has not been brought up.

Yes, below the scale are two knobs....for rate of change (left one) and cabin pressure (right one).

Can you tell me what I need to do to set for a 29000ft cruise ? I get the red warning lights at around 11000 ft already....

Thanks

I got the same issue with the Jetprop. With the realism settings maxed in FSX I dont get the warning light, but "crash" mid air if i pass 10000 ft or thereabout. i've managed to tinker around with the knobs to make me survive, but really have no clue what I'm doing. And the manual says just about nothing.

No, like most turboprops, you're going to fly the C90 at over 10,000' on most flights of any length, so cruising at well over 10K is the norm.

The answer is you wouldn't normally want cabin altitude to ever exceed 10,000' unless you and your passengers are putting on oxygen masks.

There are two scales on the dial - aircraft altitude on the inner, and cabin altitude goal on the outer.  Proper procedure is to set the dial on the inner scale - actual altitude - based on the altitude you're cruising at (and some would say +1000'), but keep in mind, the system is designed to maintain only so much differential.  Thus at some point (sorry, haven't flown the C90 in a while so I don't recall the specific numbers, but I think it's around FL260 at standard temp) the system can't maintain 10,000' or less in the cabin and you'll get the warning light.  Again, sorry I don't recall specifics, but the C90 isn't really optimal at FL290 anyway - it can get there, but it's designed to cruise at no more than the low to mid 20s.

This is correctly modeled in the Carenado.

For a very nice tutorial on procedures, I highly recommend the tutorial done by Kurt Kalbfleisch.  You can find it in the Avsim library.

Hope that helps,

Scott
