the beast specifications

i never own a water cooled rig , any advice would be appreciate. since i leave in a remote town i do not have too many possibilities and choice up here. i want also to get 2 monitors , thinking about 27 or even 30 inches... what do you think?

That would be a beast of a computer that would last you a long time. You might want to look into getting another 250gb SSD to put fsx onto, and put all of the scenery onto the regular hard drive.

Hi Henry,

This is my system essentially and it runs FSX quite well.  Better yet, it will run XPlane 64 better than 4 core versions might, and maybe P3D will be able to exploit some of its power a little more though that's still up for grabs.  I'm using an SB-E hexacore CPU at 4.4Ghz.  Since IB-E is ~5% faster per clock over SB-E, and since IB-E likely will not overclock as well, our machines will be quite similar in total performance w/ the only practical difference being IB-E supports PCIe 3.0 natively, though this has been shown to be non sequetor as far as FSX is concerned.  Make sure you can live w/ the infrequent but real possibility of water leaks.  I wasn't willing subject these expensive parts to this possibility so opted for the Noctua D-14 air cooler which performs essentially on a par w/ closed loop water coolers w/ no risk of a leak.  Unless you are contemplating picking up another 2-3 Titans then that 1300W PSU that is insane overkill.   If you're thinking no more Titans, then 850W w/ a robust 12v single rail is still way overkill and would still give you room to add one more Titan.   Also, you'll probably want FSX on its own SSD, or alternatively, do what I did which is to put OS & FSX on a single large SSD--makes for easy backups, all self-contained on one drive, and I have spectacular I/O performance.  You might want to upgrade your memory as well to 2400Mhz CAS 9 or 10 is fine.

For Fsx only i should go for Haswell.

I have i similar system as second gaming PC.

Only diff is faster mems 2666 cl10, it performs like my Old 3770k clock for clock but

It OC only to 4.7ghz on watercooling agianst the 3770k 5.ghz.

At the same clock 4.7 its allmost a 20% differens to the 4770k in the subjective smoothness i se no differens can be placebo , but the frames its 20% that you see.

And if you run it @ 4.2 its 10% more diff.

Buying a 2011 system IB -E or SB -E for fsx is waste of money , My personal opinion.

Yes

Is that 3770K de lidded??

henry,

Any reason you chose the 4930K over the 4770K? You can save quite a bit by going for the 780 over the Titan. And consider 8Gb RAM instead of 16Gb unless your running other memory intensive software.

1300w PSU seems excessive. A 650-750 would be more than enough.

Other than that it's a great system but you should be able to overclock at 4.4 rather than 4.2.

if you're thinking of going for a 30"+ display the 2560 resolution won't help your frame rates. Consider a 32" TV with 1920x1080 instead. I bought a Sony Bravia 32" LED to replace my Dell 24" 1920x1200 and it's brilliant.
