Flight 1 ATR | Questions

Featured Replies

I am considering purchasing the Flight 1 ATR package. I have the following questions:I'm concerned about the lack in breadth of airline liveries available. I know for a fact that here in India, Air Sahara and Jet Airways are significant ATR operators. Will it be possible to see these soon? I would buy ASAP if these two liveries were already there. How come AVSIM hasn't reviewed the product as yet? Any chance of seeing this soon?I have a standard 512 RAM, 1 GB, Windows XP with Intel Drivers system and already own the entire PMDG series....Will the ATR be able to run effectively on my PC?Appreciate your comments.Thanks,-Pranav

1. Liveries - the Text-o-matic system Flight 1 uses allows any repaint to be made - I'm sure someone would do those two for you if you asked on the ATR forums.2. It's a complex "systems sim" and as such it's probably taking AVSIM a while to review it.3. If you can run the NG well, you'll have no trouble with the ATR.

Avsim doesn't review products immediately after they get released, often they allow considerable time for the product to be fully patched, etc. I think it is smart. Also remember nobody pays them for the review, it is someone's free time so if for whatever reason they have better things to do .. ;-)Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

"I'm concerned about the lack in breadth of airline liveries available"Well, since the release there have been many, many liveries made, maybe not the ones you mention, but I am sure if you ask at the ATR forum someone will do them.If the PMDG birds run well, then the ATR will be better, I get decent FPS in the ATR.Its an awesome addon, one of my top planes, there are still a number of issues with CTD's, but to be honest I havent seen a CTD since SP1, but the developers are very open and the support is some of the best around.Dan.

I think if you do a search on the ATR on this web site you will find comment after comment that states that the ATR is just about the best Aircraft you can get for FS. Can't get a much better review than that.

Even better than the PMDG 737??Yeah,I know they

Thanks everyone for your inputs...One last question, 150MB? Thats huge, compared to PMDG's 70MB dowbload (no I'm not comparing here, just concerned about the file size)...I have a DSL at home....what's the average time to download?Thanks,-Pranav

As said many liveries are available as after-sales additions and more arrive all the time.It was decided to limit the number of liveries in the initial download to keep the filesize somewhat reasonable. Adding all the liveries that were initially planned (and are now available as separate downloads) would have added another 50MB or so causing complaints that the file's too large.

At this moment there are 38 liveries listed for the Flight1 ATR here at Avsim.Alastair

But it is all pre-patch so any issues may not be issues any longer.Do not buy this package unless you are prepared to read and re-read the manuals. Like the PMDG 737 it is simply too complex to manage by `suck it and see`. Although, in contrast, it is also one of the best `hand flyers` ever for FS, I think. As for the file sizes, well that's what it takes to deliver all the possible combinations of 2d, VC and different texture densities. As for those extra liveries, they are appearing fast, in both passenger and cargo types, so I'm sure you can get someone to do one for you if you can't do it yourself.Allcott

I can't remember how long it took me to download, I had a cup of coffee and it was done. Was it worth it, .... does a duck Quack? :)

It's a very easy plane to paint thanks to the paint kit and text-o-matic. So expect to see many, many liveries. If you can't find the livery you want, try posting a request on the ATR forum (http://atr.flight1.net/forums), you will probably find someone willing to take it on for you.
