October 7, 201312 yr Hi all, my new 256 gig ssd is coming today & I want to move my horizon gen x scenery onto it, can anyone advise me how to do it without having to re install it all. Thanks. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
Paul Sleight
October 7, 201312 yr Moderator Although I don't own this product, I've moved other products quite easily over to other drives: - Inside FSX, look at the scenery library and have a look at where the folders are for genx - Move each of the folders it shows to the new drive, and then simply change the path to point to the new drive, e.g. c:\Program Files\Microsoft\FSX\Addon\UK to e:\Scenery\UK, e: being your SSD drive. - You can also edit the scenery.cfg file directly, rather than changing each path inside FSX.
October 7, 201312 yr Author Ok, thanks. I have a feeling its not that simple, I might try one of the Ireland packages first as they are a lot smaller packages & see how I go on. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
Paul Sleight
October 8, 201312 yr I just use an NTFS junction (it's kinda like a symlink on Linux) on my Scenery folder to my external drive. I do this with my iTunes collection as well. That way, I don't mess with any of the config files or paths.
October 9, 201312 yr Author Thanks dal1850 but I can honestly say I have no idea what it is your suggesting, I'm not computer tech enough. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
Paul Sleight
October 9, 201312 yr Some relevant info on Junctions: http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33960786 FYI: It is possible to tie your hard disk directories into a knot if you don't know what you're doing, so if this makes your eyes bug out, you might just want to go old school and just "drag/drop" copy the files and update all your config files manually to refer to the new location.
October 14, 201312 yr Honestly Sleightflight... I would re install it and you should then have no problems.. Dave Honestly, I would reinstall as you should then not have any problems... Dave
