Featured Replies

Hi all, my new 256 gig ssd is coming today & I want to move my horizon gen x scenery onto it, can anyone advise me how to do it without having to re install it all. Thanks.

Although I don't own this product, I've moved other products quite easily over to other drives:

- Inside FSX, look at the scenery library and have a look at where the folders are for genx

- Move each of the folders it shows to the new drive, and then simply change the path to point to the new drive, e.g. c:\Program Files\Microsoft\FSX\Addon\UK to e:\Scenery\UK, e: being your SSD drive.

- You can also edit the scenery.cfg file directly, rather than changing each path inside FSX.

Ok, thanks. I have a feeling its not that simple, I might try one of the Ireland packages first as they are a lot smaller packages & see how I go on.

I just use an NTFS junction (it's kinda like a symlink on Linux) on my Scenery folder to my external drive. I do this with my iTunes collection as well. That way, I don't mess with any of the config files or paths.

Thanks dal1850 but I can honestly say I have no idea what it is your suggesting, I'm not computer tech enough.

Some relevant info on Junctions:

FYI: It is possible to tie your hard disk directories into a knot if you don't know what you're doing, so if this makes your eyes bug out, you might just want to go old school and just "drag/drop" copy the files and update all your config files manually to refer to the new location.
