October 10, 201312 yr One of the secrets to not having uninstall issues, left-over files, registry keys deleted/not deleted is to use something like this - Revo Uninstaller (trial or Pro). Restoring my PC to factory settings isn't any way going to damage or hamper my PC and it's performance, long or short term is it? I've heard it can have an affect on hardware and such.
October 10, 201312 yr I do not see how it could affect performance or hardware. It will return your system to the way it was when you first bought it. You will have to run Windows Update and get the latest updates as all of your Windows Updates will be gone. Windows Update will also recommend the latest Video Card driver in the Optional section of Windows Update. It's like starting over. Make sure you back up any personal files (I always backup My Documents/My Pictures). You can bring those files back after the restoration. I shall do a complete restore and I will post the results of my FSX installation in around 5 hours. I've also searched the net and it just seems to be one of those issues whereby there is no definitive answer. I'd much rather restore than go messing around with tonnes of different files, updating, installing, reinstalling - makes more sense to me to start fresh! Many Thanks
