October 14, 201312 yr An OOM is caused by running out of VAS. Since you own the PMDG 777, you should read the information and suggested fixes regarding OOM's starting on Page 21 of the PMDG 777 Introduction Guide. October 14, 201312 yr i am not sure if I am using a Beta driver but all I did before was went to AMD site and downloaded it from the driver section. I chose version/ revision 13.9 (Display Driver ver. 13.152) Is that OK? and I did update the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 13.9 is current 13.4 is previous and is stable in both DX10 and DX9. Most ATI users are using it with FSX. 13.10 and 13.11 are BETA's currently. Problem is 13.9, BETA 13.10 and 13.11 crash if you fly in DX9 mode. Charles. Back to report. I managed to trace down the error and it is OOM.... I dont know what to say coz in DX9 with my config I never get OOM. Could anyone give a pointer? Regards Hendrik Google this... "FSX, OOM and Addon VAS Usage" and there is a blog from xxxxx that covers this well enough. But the jist is this... Large LOD radius and big airport addons with PMDG planes = OOM probability. Every time you pass near a payware airport or scenery, VAS (Virtual Address Space) increases and once you get close to 4GB... Boom. C.
October 14, 201312 yr Author I have read xxxxx blog and PMDG manual. Followed all the advised and instructions. Nothing help. I will try going back to DX9 and see what will happen since before I moved to DX10 I never had OOM
October 14, 201312 yr I will try going back to DX9 and see what will happen since before I moved to DX10 I never had OOM I seriously doubt this a problem with DX10 installation. You don't get an OOM in DX9 because you have to first turn off DX10 and then restart FSX. Whenever you shutdown FSX/restart FSX, it frees up memory and things appear to be running well again. You don't get an OOM and you immediately think, well, it must have been DX10. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
