Optimal settings for ATI users with FSX - Great Results!
cvearl replied to cvearl's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcDoes Radeon Pro even work with Windows 10 anymore? I have long since moved to P3Dv2.5 though. This article probably only pertains to Win7 FSX with AMD. It's been a long time. C.

My Response to Carenado Re V1.1
Not so sure. Carenado has always out developed (in volume) everyone else. Yet when another developer picks an aircraft they go ahead regardless. Would other devs release more if Carenado slowed down? Not sure. Carenado had a B200, B90 released 3 years ago yet Flight1 released the B200 a year later and Milviz just released their B300. Carenado had C172 out for years as well as C182T. Since then A2A released a 172 and 182 and Flight1 released a 182T. Realair really can only put out so much in a year. We are still waiting on P3Dv2.X versions of the Piston Duke and Legacy. Their release schedule has 0 to do with Carenado and everything to do with size of the team. A2A focuses on quality of systems and airfile and release less. I am actually glad there is a Carenado or I would have very few planes in my hangar to play with when I get bored. And thank the maker Carenado made the GTN750 integration in some of these birds or NO navigational IFR practices in P3D for anyone not flying a PMDG model. Without Carenado, I might have been done with flight sim by now. All I ask of Carenado is that every single item on the Checklist worked (even if just a meaningless switch). Adding the Cold and Dark option is a step in the right direction. Please Carenado. Make sure the checklist can be followed A to Z for start up and Shutdown with all the expected reactions from the plane and it's equipment. Secondly. Please keep working hard at making the plane fly by the numbers. Exhibit the correct stall behaviour and be able to slip somewhat realistically. These three things would make them a legendary developer. They often get very close on these things. Charles.

Can I pull an aircraft's default Cameras into EZCA?
Hey everyone, Hope someone has figured this one out. If I have a new plane installed, can I pull all the developers made camera positions into EZCA to have a starting point? External and Internal. For example, Carenado or RealAir have some great pre-packed cameras with their planes. Rather than build all new cameras I would like to start with theirs from within EZCA and tweak from there. Possible? Charles.

Flight1 B200 working in P3D v2.5 now?
Hey everyone, Have my P3D v2.5 cleaned up and running nice. Really craving a good B200. Anyone have this working in P3D v2.5? And if so, how are the framerates on this bird? C.

Ultimate Terrain vs. ORBX products
Not sure why you would want to disable OpenLC to try UTX. UTX and OpenLC do two separate jobs. There is no reason to deactivate or avoid Open LC. Open LC is Landclass everywhere. Is that tile below you Agriculture? Forest? Desert? Swamp? and so on. UTX and Vector do the same thing. However... UTX has some URBAN lanclass data. Stuff within urban areas mostly. But if an area is wrong? Say... Shows desert below when it is really supposed to be Agriculture? UTX will not fix that. OpenLC does. Recap... UTX and Vector = Vector data (Roads, Rivers, towns, cities, lakes, coastlines and so on) OpenLC = Landclass data (Agriculture, Desert, Rock, Tunndra, Forest and so on) Global = Repalcement Texture pack (Colors the ground as requested by the landclass type) Anyway. I am going to add UTX Canada to my OpenLC NA Canada and Global install and see how well they blend. C.

Problem with blurry textures (blurries) in 2.5
I am on P3D v2.5 i7 2600k 4.4Ghz and 8GB RAM. Radeon 7970 Ghz edition with 3GB. P3D is on a fresh CFG file and cleared out Shaders. Settings are left at whatever the original out of the box settings are other than I set fps locked to 30, enabled widescreen and turned off FSAA. Set AA to 4x and Supersample in the driver (SGSS kind of for AMD). Flying around ORBX PNW I get great fps and smooth as glass. But blurry slow to load textures that never quite keep up with the plane. Pause and wait 10 or 15 seconds and they sharpen right up. But this is tied to how much is going on. The more dense an area is for autogen the worse it is. Sparsely populated areas no issue or rarely happens. Add some weather with ASN and fly to a payware airport? Definitely see lagging texture loading. P3D is doing a juggling act and can only keep so many balls in the air at a time. Not sure what I want to turn off to prevent this issue as I am a VFR low and slow GA guy and I need those ground textures or what's the point? Charles.

AA AMD vs Nvidia
R9 290X roughly equals GTX 780ti. Get MSI or Gigabyte for cool running. Its a hot card. Typically you would be setting AA in game to 4x, disabling FXAA and setting AMD driver to supersample. Looks good on my system. But you can achieve similar with nVidia I think... http://www.robainscough.com/Prepar3D_Settings_2.html Charles.

Aerosoft Twin Otter X Extended FSX/P3D needs GTN 750. Sound off!
I think these guys need some encouragement. If anyone here is in love with the Twin Otter Extended and owns, or plans to own, the GTN 750. Throw your name in. Let them know. As it stands, responses seemed pretty underwhelming and we may end up with never seeing a real GPS in the Twin Otter. Ever. That would be sad. This is a plane modeled up there with A2A and Real Air IMO and the only real Twin Otter option for FSX and P3Dv2. This hobby is not aviation without it. Add your 2 cents here... http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/88257-twin-otter-extended-and-f1-gtn/page-2#entry653203 You know you want it.

thinking of cross-grading from R290 to a 770/780
cvearl replied to peppy197's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcIf you are comparing in P3D, I wager a 290 and a GTX 780ti will run about the same at similar settings in identical tests. In FSX AA will be a bit sharper with nVidia using 4xSGSS versus ATI 4xSSAA. Care to share your AA and AF settings? Also another carenado plane that sucks in p3d is the B1900. In FSX I can lock at 40 fps running laps around KHQM in ORBX scenery. In P3D, 18 - 22. If you make the switch, let us know if there was an improvement. C.

UTX USA out for P3D
There it is. Forgot that one. I mainly live in FTX full "regions" which are a full on commercial grade blend of Textures, Landclass, points of interest, custom buildings, Vector data and mesh. But to me the best part is they fix all the airports in region to look close to the real life version. Or at least not a sterile strip of grey with a box next to it. Me having Global + UTX USA is just so when I leave a region, I almost cannot tell except the land class will start to look wrong (until they release OpenLC NA). And then of course when I land at some airport, it is a dead give away I am not in a fully developed ORBX region. C.

I LOVE Dovetail, and Steam, and ... FSX!
I am seriously thinking about uninstalling the old FSX on my C: drive. I have P3D v2 loaded and use it almost exclusively. But I am so curious now I want to load it with the basics and see. FSX:SE and add... - REX TD4 and REX Essential+ for Weather - ORBX PNW and a few of the payware airports - Carenado B1900 - A2A C172, Cherokee 180 and Cessna 182T And take them for a rip at high settings. UTX USA out for P3D
100% sure. It includes URBAN (City) landclass only. That is landclass (type of ground) within cities. It does not include landclass data (tile type data) outside of cities (Agriculture, jungle, forest, desert and so on). From the website itself... http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=utxusa Ultimate Terrain X dramatically improves the accuracy of cities in FSX using our proprietary "Synthetic Landclass" generation system, which generates urban landclass based on recent commercial data sources. In the USA, there are basically 6 different sets of landclass textures available to represent the different levels of urban sprawl. These textures are used in the wetter, more seasonal areas. There are also 5 urban texture sets available for dry regions. In Short... UTX does some corrections to City Border Shapes and placement of Inductrial versus housing versus commercial within the city. It will also add a handful of missing towns to your world. But does not correct the rest of the land surrounding the cities and towns. For example. With UTX I will fly over somewhere I know is farmland in all directions but in the sim it is a forest below me. That is what OpenLC and Scenerytech try to correct. To clarify further... TEXTURE PRODUCTS GEX (Ground environment Extreme) ORBX FTX Global Vector Products (map overlay) UTX (Ultimate Terrain X) ORBX FTX Global Vector Landclass Products Scenery Tech ORBX OpenLC Before ORBX got into the game, people bought GEX+UTX+Scenerytech. Now orbx is in the game with Global+Vector+OpenLC. some of us have mixed and matched. I have UTX USA+FTX Global and it looks great! I am waiting on OpenLC NA. Last piece I have not bothered with is mesh. The topographical shape of the ground below. FSGenesis is one. Can't remember the rest. Charles.

UTX USA out for P3D
USA OpenLC has nothing to do with Vector data products like UTX and FTX Vector. ORBX FTX Global BASE replaces FSX's base texture (pallet/colors and look) library (Grass, rock, agriculture, forest, jungle, desert, tundra and so on) "UTX" is the competitor to FTX Global Vector (Roads, Rivers, Lakes, Golf Courses, Parks, Railroads and Coastlines). FTX Global OpenLC USA will be landclass data (Tile types - agriculture? desert? jungle? Forest? Dense City? Industrial? Urban?). UTX does not do this with a small exception. They do include a reshape of Urban and have added Urban/city landclass and Urban Vegetation like park areas and greenspaces. If your favorite area to fly looks like grassy hills but in real life should be desert, UTX does not fix that. Landclass like OpenLC does. It's all layered. The map is made of tiles. The sim assignes landclass types (OpenLC) to each of the tiles and colors it with the textures. The sim then overlays the VECTOR roadmap data stuff (FTX Vector or UTX) on top of that to give you the roads and rivers and such. Charles.

Alabeo PA32 My Thoughts (P3D)
So I bought it. Now I see what everyone says about the sound. Comparing with the C337 as the bar and a 10/10 in all catagories? I would score this plane... Looks - 9/10 Flight Model - 9/10 Sound - 4/10 I will need to look around for a resolution to that. Shame on you Carenado! Charles.

c310 autopilot not working with f1 gtn gauges
I do not disagree with you in the slightest. My kids come first as well. Thanks for explaining what Milviz is. I'll adjust my expectations in the future. Did not mean to offend. All the best and Merry Christmas. C.

c310 autopilot not working with f1 gtn gauges
Colin sent me everything but MV_C310R_F1GTN_v1.141213. I'll have to email him again. I hope at some point you can improve the delivery mechanism to your customers. This is a little cattywompas. Especially when considering the quality of the product. Feels a bit like buying a Bently at a Good Will thrift store. C.

Do any of you use FSE Flight Sim Economy while you fly on Vatsim? Or do you have predetermined flight plans and do fly ins like airports sometimes have in RL? Charles.
