English Lesson: -1# = V1 Cut Which has to do with "MCT" whatever that is, etc.

Featured Replies

I have tried to do a V1 cut.

All goes well until I press FLCH after the Flaps are up. It does not give MCT but CLB...

Seeing a few posts here does make me question how the beta team misses stuff like this.

Anyway, did the THR button give you MCT?

How on earth can anyone know what this thread is about with a title like -1# ?

Thanks for the contribution, keep up the good work...... Anyway, who cares what the thread title is, the detail is in the post.

Anyway, the original post got me curious so I fired a question of to someone I know on the 777. I would be interested to know if the OP can reproduce this issue, it is a possibility that the real machine in some cases could not automatically switch to continuous thrust, this is why it 'must' be verified by the PM. I am wondering if PMDG may have simulated a quirk with the real aircraft.

Simply because this is the symbol we use in loads of real companies for one engine out.

-1# or V1 cut

But I ll use more generic words next time sorry.

The thrust button did not change any thing. I ll try again as soon I have time and report further if I am able to get MCT.

But we aren't all real pilots or work for airlines, so please keep it meaningful for the majority. I've been around the commercial sim industry for decades and never heard or seen a pilot refer to a V1 cut this way. As you can imagine it's a subject that crops up frequently for training.

Indeed, but if you open every thread with an obscure title to see what its about it would take ages to browse the forum. Personally I think AVSIM should require meaningful thread titles to make the forums easier to read but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, I'm sorry the thread got diverted in this way.

I think I captured the intent in the new title; don't you? :Big Grin:

He said "press FLCH after the Flaps are up."

So MCT should already be selected. Maybe it is changing from MCT to CLB when FLCH is pressed?

Best regards,

Robin.

Here is how the real B777 works.

On a v1 cut if VNAV is engage it will automatically set MCT at flaps up. If VNAV is not engage when flaps are up press FLCH or CLB/CON to set MCT. But none of them did select MCT.

-1# = one engine out

V1 cut is one engine out at TO

MCT is Max Continuous Thrust (CON on the EICAS of the B777)
