December 13, 201411 yr Could not sleep, so I decided to finish it. Here's a link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/a3af309d715svzk/loganair_js4100.rar I've only tested it in P3D V2.4, let me know if there are any issues in FSX. Some more shots:
December 13, 201411 yr Nice job Propane! You beat me to it, so I guess I'll just park mine back in the garage. I hope every one will enjoy your work. Johnny Rosario
December 13, 201411 yr Propane Yes, they did have stripes in the inner side of the cowls. Ken Complete and utter insurrection
December 13, 201411 yr Propane Now tested in FSX and looks good. Will try and post some pics later. Thanks for a great looking rendition. Ken Complete and utter insurrection
December 14, 201411 yr No problem, it was a relatively easy one. I always get stuck with alignment issues on more difficult ones, makes me want to pull my hair out, haha . I hope you enjoy it, I will do a bit more tweaking maybe, to put the stripes on the inside of the nacelles as well. The top of those things pose some alignment challenges though .
December 14, 201411 yr I definitely agree with you Propane. I've done a couple, and I dread to do them at times. It's the way the model was made. Same issue with Eaglesoft Citation X, and other models. Johnny Rosario
December 14, 201411 yr Do you ever fancy trying to do the same with the Aerosoft DHC6 Twotter in the same livery? The only ones I can find are the BA and Flybe ones? How do you get started in painting and do you need any specific programme other then the paintkits? Complete and utter insurrection
December 14, 201411 yr You can use Adobe Paint Shop, or Corel Paint Shop, but others may use some sort of freeware. Johnny Rosario
December 14, 201411 yr Unfortunately I don't own the Aerosoft Twotter, which makes it hard to do repaints. I can download the paintkit, but then I can't check any alignment issues by myself. In terms of software, I find Photoshop the easiest to work with. But it's relatively expensive. There's also freeware of course, like GIMP. But if you are not familiar with the software and the way paintkits work and how textures wrap around the model, the learning curve can be steep. Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy the J41 version :-).
December 14, 201411 yr Author Thank You very much. Loganair has/had most interesting routes and now we have good selection of planes to fly them. I have begged the Twotter paint at Aerosoft´s forums.
December 16, 201411 yr Hi Propane I´ve been flying my LC J41 at night and noticed that the left wing upper surface and the leading edge as it wraps under the wing appears stark white, almost as if it is being lit up. I don't know how to post pics to let you see. Best regards Ken Complete and utter insurrection
December 17, 201411 yr Alright, I will have a look later this week. Might be something wrong with the layer that controls reflections and stuff.
December 17, 201411 yr I've heard of similar issues before, and my post at http://forum.avsim.net/topic/397581-js41-night-layer-painting/?p=2576722 solved it ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
December 17, 201411 yr Thanks, but the specular maps were fine. It was quite some time since I did a JS41 paint, and I forgot that in the texture for the wings/nacelles/elevator, they don't include the proper alpha channel to light up the wings. Instead, it's all white. So when you turn on the ice observation light or nav+logo lights, the wing turns all white as well. Fixed now, updated the file on Mediafire: PMDG Jetstream 41 Loganair V1.1 This update also includes the stripes on the inside of the engine nacelles. The alignment does not look perfect from every angle, but to be honest, I don't want to spend hours at trial and error to get it right ;-).
