October 18, 201312 yr Hi- Recently installed Megascenery 2.0 CA-entire state. Flight plan KSFO>KLAX in default Lear at 5:04pm a few minutes ago. As I climb out 28l, it appears that the default scenery in showing through, fully lit, along a jagged edge where MS seems to fill in with it unlit (dark) scenery as I proceed south underneath the aircraft. Shouldn't the entire state be dark as I fly south, or completely lit if MS wasn't working correctly? I can send a screen shot if this doesn't make sense. Thanks, Mark
October 18, 201312 yr You will see a transition phase from photo to default style during dusk/dawn periods. Once you reach night time (as per FSX) you would then see default style if the photo did not have night time textures.

Because I am new to photoscenery with the Hawaii package just released, and have to disable Megascenery Hawaii in the scenery list if I want to fly at night.
October 18, 201312 yr Are you sure? Because I am new to photoscenery with the Hawaii package just released, and have to disable Megascenery Hawaii in the scenery list if I want to fly at night. I am always, kinda, somewhat, possibly certain 50% of the time... I could reply to your Hawai'i question specifically, but I've only bought the product and not yet installed it. BTW, don't forget my wind turbine package for Maui and TBI that is available here in the library! When making photo scenery the INF file sent to the compiler tells the compiler what versions of the scenery to make. That being Day, Night, Dusk and Dawn. The BGL file can contain one or many of the variants. As someone who has made photo based work, I would always instruct the compiler to make Day scenery if that's the only good and viable source. What other developers may or may not do is up to them.
October 18, 201312 yr This has been reported several times. MegaSceneryEarth 2.0 developers have stated they are going to release night textures. Right now it is working in some places but not in all. I have placed MegaSceneryX SoCal above my MegaSceneryEarth stuff in the scenery library and I have very nice night textures around the LAX area. There will be no charge for the upgrade to night lighting. They are also working on some water masking issues. If you want night textures over California at night, then you will have to disable MegaSceneryEarth at night and let the default work. You can do this during the flight by going into the scenery library. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! October 18, 201312 yr Author Thanks, Jim, as I do have MS SoCal. I received an email from PC Aviator regarding a discount for another purchase. I said I wasn't buying any more scenery until the water masking is fixed (I live in the SF Bay Area) and I'm not. I wouldn't hold your breath on night textures, however, for me, night time flying is not on the priority list. I'm thinking when I do fly at dusk and get this weird behavior, I could install GEX and disable MS for my SFO-LAX run. We'll see
October 19, 201312 yr however, for me, night time flying is not on the priority list. Not my priority too. It doesn't make sense to fly over lights when you cannot see any photoscenery. I'm positive though they will eventually update 2.0 and add night lighting which should fix the dusk problem. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! October 22, 201312 yr Commercial Member As Jim says, there are known issues at night with MegaSceneryEarth 2.0 and default FSX night textures. It's a bug, but we expect this to be solved when the night lighting updates are rolled out. DeanManager - PC Aviator AustraliaRetailing Sim DVD Software, Downloads, Hardware and Accessories
