December 4, 201312 yr Aerofly has a long way to go before it can be considered a serious flight simulator. No problem...I'll wait. I accept it for what it is currently: super fun, eye candy flying. If I want to show off my sim to someone not familiar with the hobby I will load up Aerofly FS and let them have at it. If a fellow real world pilot comes by then i load up FSX to give them a taste of just how procedurally accurate the simulator is. I have the feeling that aeroflyFS 2.0 will be closer to FSX, or what you're saying, a "serious flight simulator". The developer status thread promises more cockpit functionality and support for navigation features like ILS and VOR for the next major release.
December 4, 201312 yr Yes, this sim is still flying under a lot of people's radar. I think it will a big surprise to many. Least I hope so. It could give us another nice option down the road. I can wait. Why not muddy the waters a little bit more. Steve
December 4, 201312 yr What I like about Aerofly FS is that it looks great out of the box...zero tweaking. Every time I reinstall FSX I have to follow ten pages of step by step directions (a living document that I have created over many years) to get FSX tweaked to perfection. That includes a few dozen additional third party add-ons in order to achieve. I just added SweetFX the other day in order to achieve effects that appear to be built into Aerofly. My fingers are crossed that the developers will continue to move forward with enhancements to functionality.
