Status of FlyTampa KTPA

Featured Replies

What is the official DX10 fixer status of FlyTampa KTPA. I've seen at least 3 posts here stating that KTPA works like a boss with the fixer, but so far my results work less than most of my coworkers. The chief issue seems to be the runway lighting (PAPI, REIL, etc.) which appear as colored blocks. Do I need to run with a particular settings in the fixer to make this work? I saw from the FT forums that a beta patch is out for Dubai, but haven't heard anything about Tampa which makes me wonder if there is really an issue or not.

Have You tried to set the "scenery sliders" at the DX10 fix interface completely to the left and also unticked the 8bit textures? Just an idea an therefore i'm asking.

Otherwise maybe consider taking some screenshots and either post them here or directly at the FT forums - or even on both sites. Because this may help to gain a better picture of Your issues at KTPA and then find a proper solution - judging from Your post regarding the lighs which appear as blocks i think i know what You mean, but nonetheless: A screenshot might still be helpful.

Cheers, Christoph

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

That's how I'm presently running (full left, no 8-bit).

..and all Effects enabled?

I might suggest that you check back to those posts and ask for their settings. I have FT St. Maartens - works fine, KSEA - not unless modified, and KSAN - no, so I can't be of much help. If others have it working, then it's likely something within your system, or cfg or the Fixer. Perhaps Steve will chime in..I'll pass this by him - ok!

Sorry nothing useful to add.   I would suggest that DAL ask the posters who said it worked, or else ask at FlyTampa.

I see a post over there when Martin released a patch for Dubai asking whether KTPA would get a similar fix with no response - which suggests someone else sees the same issue.

I would suggest asking politely whether there could be a fix in the future.   Do bear in mind that its clearly extra work for them though.

Yeah, my FT Boston, Midway, and St. Maarten sceneries are all working fine.

Tampa is a bit of a mess right now though. So I'm not sure what others are doing or if they just haven't noticed it's broken :) For now, all my runway lighting BGLs are disabled - thank god for CAT III ILS.

Steve, can you take a look at Martin's comments here:

If the lighting is the way he says it is: "default afcad generated", is there any reason the DX10 Fixer shouldn't address this if what he's saying is true?

Update: NM. I think he's confused :) KTPA doesn't use AFCAD lighting....but it can! And now it does with a little love from ADE :) The lights are back on in Tampa again.

Really?  Good work, Dal! That's unbelievable, isn't it.

Strange. I did not have the issue at KTPA that DAL did.

I read elsewhere some people had reported the installers for some of the newer FT airports "upgrade" some of the shared scenery objects and have created backwards incompatibilities with older airports. I'm wondering if this might be what happened to me. I did find a few people in the DX10 forum with my issue at KTPA (and other airports)...but other people say it runs just great. As with most things FSX, both are probably true.

I don't know where the fly was introduced to the soup, only that it's there :)
