October 18, 201312 yr For you 1.4 users...other than ORBX stuff with dual installers, can you please tell me what I might expect to need to do, to purchase and use v2.0 when it comes out? Can you just 'install' once more most of your scenery and 3rdP planes? I can't imagine that nothing that I have now running and using within FSX, could not be merely (programs, planes, scenery, etc) layered onto V2.0. I do not have any user experience with other than the FSX engine, and do not know. Can anybody that is running 1.4, perhaps please tell me/us what their experience in third party properties is, and the true deal between FSX/P3D regarding their 3rd Party scenery/plane portfolio. Would be grateful to read a reply. Thanks.
October 18, 201312 yr Everything I have in FSX scenery (I don't have a lot of big aircraft) I can install to Prepar3d, The trick that worked for me was to place a copy of FSX.exe in Prepared. In some older sceneries and other addons that can not be pointed to Prepar3d I simply copy the FSX version over and activate it. Works for me. Teecee.

Oh, ok..so there are some 'things' that need to be done to make it all work. I see then, that if there is no actual 'either fsx or p3d' when you run a program, then you might have to fiddle with this or that. Gotcha. Thanks for the reply. Still interested, but now I know there will be a hit and miss with this.....
October 19, 201312 yr You may find this LINK useful. It has allowed me to install over 95% of my FSX SimObjects and Scenery into P3D without a problem. It is worth mentioning that P3D2 will be a NEW installation and therefore this must be taken into account if you use this method. ie: It will be possible to have P3D1, P3D2, and FSX all loaded on the same computer. Therefore there could be up to three different Registry entries for FS installations and choosing the correct entry for installs will be important.. Cheers, Mac Cheers, Mac

I will then have FSX,P3D, and XPX on the same hard drive. I check out your link right after this post. I'm certainly keen on P3D, as I have seen for myself, that the FSX engine CAN render decent performance as it is right now, if certain actions fall into place. That assures me, that when this is released, it will be a major leap for what they are changing/updating/adjusting. Bottom line...can't wait! If P3D truly is the path forward, I might be comfortable with deleting FSX (based on what I can, and cannot do with P3D and my already spent-the-bucks program/plane base for FSX) if my major and most used programs/planes can make the jump.... Post Edit: Ok...just saw what you linked, and bookmarked the page. Thanks!
October 23, 201312 yr It's easy for sceneries but it's a bit hassle sometime, for utilities and 3rd party planes. My advice is go slowly and don't delete your FsX yet.
