NickN now gives advise on tuning P3D
eminyilmaz replied to TheFamilyMan's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
When I get rid of nvidia inspector it becomes Commodore 64. Yes, I can keep 60 fps most of the time without nvidia inspector but I don't want to fly with those ugly jaggies and shimmers. How are we going to get a decent AA without nvidia inspector? -
I can't fly with clouds either. Whether it's ASN or Opus, it doesn't matter. Opus is a bit better but it becomes slideshow anyway. Say I am flying above vast wilderness of Alaska, when I activate weather engine and if it's a bad weather, my fps dips to 8-9 fps from 60 fps. I can't even fly on Alaska, can't imagine how I can fly through cities. I have gtx680 and I know it's a mediocre card, but it shouldn't be that bad even with this card. I am not using NI, so it's not heavy SGSS settings causing this. I have only one monitor (32 inch TV with a 1080p resolution) and I am using lowest possible resolution of clouds from Rex. Big mystery.

Upcoming ORBX TreesHD will also boost performance
eminyilmaz replied to DylanM's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
It'll change all default trees but you need to have ftx global at least. -
No 64-bit P3D coming according to Orbxs' John Venema
eminyilmaz replied to Gordon Hutchison's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I don't know about programming but if you think how long it took LM to release p3d v2.0 after the release of p3d v1.4, it makes sense to assume it'll take another 3 years at least. -
How come there's no stuttering in this kid's video using gtx960 and there's always some stuttering in Rob's videos using Titan? Is it because of the recording software? I don't understand.

I guess I'll also stick with v2.4 for a long time. It's working great now. In fact, I decided to install all my remaining fsx addons that I haven't installed yet. I have tons of fsx addons I want to use in p3d. I don't know you guys, but I don't like LM is changing main structure of sim which can cause troubles with legacy fsx addons. If there'll be a 64 bit brand new p3d someday, I'll throw all legacy addons to garbage can. But, until that time I don't want to have troubles for the sake of minor improvement.

Does FTFF=0.01 tweak work in 2.5? My fps almost doubled with it in 2.4.

7 Hours with P3D V2 and still Microstutters
eminyilmaz replied to RJC68's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Well, I think that's the reason. Higher fps close to 60, my p3d is becoming smoother. Occasionally, I manage to keep 60 fps for a while, then it's super smooth. One solution would be getting a monitor with a 30fps native refresh rate. Like those 4K monitors. But, I am sure that option won't work for me. My gpu can't carry 4K resolution and maintain 30 fps. -

7 Hours with P3D V2 and still Microstutters
eminyilmaz replied to RJC68's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
###### will attack me again but I have to say this, p3d = stuttering fsx + shadows. Nothing more, nothing less. Unless you can keep 60fps all the time (which is impossible), there'll be stutters no matter what you do or what you install. So, give up either shadows or smoothness. Personally, I like those shadows so I'll keep p3d. My pc is double boot of Win7 and Win8. I am keeping both sims in my pc under different os. -
Hi Marc, I also get OOMs when I am flying over Orbx England. I am suspecting this is not a coincidence and something wrong with Orbx England.

Upgrading the P3D versions and Addons
eminyilmaz replied to TristanAbyss's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I don't care why 2.5 released as a full reinstall. And honestly, I don't want to understand rationale behind it. Do you understand why every software you have is getting updated? I am an end-user not a programmer or technician. If you're reinstalling every other program you possess from scratch when update is needed, then I have nothing say to you. All I am saying is they should implement auto-update feature. This goes for Orbx too. -
Upgrading the P3D versions and Addons
eminyilmaz replied to TristanAbyss's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
No, it worked at step 4 which is a clean install of 2.5 as you said. It didn't work after I copy/pasted files from old install. I am not blaming you bakayoyo. Thanks for tips, it was worth trying. Sim installation is just too complex. Too many addons already. I was anticipating that it wouldn't be so easy. I had 140 gb of p3d installation (which might be still small compared to yours though). I am going to stick with 2.4. I still don't understand why we should bothering reinstall even patching this godforsaken software. It's 2015 man. People have invented a stuff called auto-update decades ago. All in all, I hope Dovetail somehow can implement shadows into fsx;se. The moment they achieve that I am done with this p3d nonsense.
