November 3, 201312 yr Why is it so difficult to get ATC and AI traffic in accordance? I mean why does ATC assign me to RW 25L/R, though all AI traffic is using RW 07L/R when I'm arriving at the airport? This happens with default FSX ATC but also with proATC (which I currently don't use). I am using AS2012. Also changing the weather using the fsx menu (AS2012 not running) after loading a flight does normally not help (let's say by changing wind to 255 with 8 knots). Any ideas? I am asking because I really like the VHHH 25L/R (BETTY TD) approach passing FTs beautiful Honkong scenery. But I hate it seeing ai a/c starting from 07R/L. November 3, 201312 yr This is most likely due to the fact how the AI engine handles ATC and traffic: The moment an aircraft gets a runway assigned (be it AI or user aircraft), it is bound for that runway inevitably, even if after a severe wind change this would mean that the aircraft would land with a 30kts tailwind. (An exception being that you can ask for a different approach/RWY if you recognize that your assigned runway is out of reach for whatever reason) This means that every aircraft that has been assigned RWY 07L/R for arrival (because that was the favored one when they received initial approach instructions) will have to land on this runway, even if this one isn't active anymore. After the wind changes and hence favors another runway, only those aircraft that do not yet have a runway assigned will get the instructions to approach the newly active runway, hence there will of course be some weird situations when aircraft take off/land on both sides of a runway. November 3, 201312 yr Author I think I understand so far. But why does default ATC give me (user ac) the wrong runway than? - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
November 3, 201312 yr There's a "scenery reload" (including "AI traffic refresh") command in FSX. There's no default key assigned; you have to assign one yourself. Weather addons like Active Sky map this command to a button in the GUI so you can refresh AI traffic after weather changes. Should work in those cases you're describing, as well (with exceptions ). What happened to AVSIM
November 3, 201312 yr Author Ah, forgot about this key (I already have assigned one). Thank you. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

Tell me of this AI refresh button. I use ActiveSky Evolution. I see a Refresh button but none that says AI Refresh. Is it one and the same?
