December 8, 200421 yr Hi all,I am looking for some feed back from all of you who purchased FS addons from Bill Lyon with a Paypal payment. This is my first purchased through Papypal. On november 28 I ordered the Custom Classic VII from Bill Lyon. The same day I got a receipt from Paypal and my Credit Card account has been billed (I checked with Visa and the transaction has been completed). Having received no message from Bill Lyon, I sent him an e-mail last week, asking if he had received a payment from Paypal...and got no answer. As I have no experience with Paypal and before taking the big step and asking Visa to cancel this transaction for fraudulous commercial activity, I wanted to learn about people's experience with Paypal and Bill Lyon. I must say that I never read anything negative on this forum about Bill Lyon, so I'm more enclined to suspect the Paypal system, but it is strange that I got no answer from Bill Lyon. Thanks for your input.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
December 8, 200421 yr I've heard good things about Bill, so I wouldn't go accusing him of anything quite yet. PayPal is pretty fraud proof- Hold off and wait for an answer, if you do want to cancel PayPal will refund your money. I've never gotten burned with PayPal. I would hope he has a good explanation- maybe out of town or something- that has happened to me before. Vendors don't mess with PayPal transactions- they will have their accounts revoked, and will be investigated for fraud if necessary, so scamming one person would really be counterproductive. Yes it stinks that you don't know what's going on, but I'm sure it will work out. Does anybody have any alternative contact info for Bill he can try?
December 8, 200421 yr Author Hello Christian,Thanks for your recommendation. I'll wait a little bit longer. And yes, if someone has an alternative e-mail to Bill Lyon, I would appreciate.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI

Find out if PayPal correctly logged the payment. I've paid Bill three times from his site and have gotten nothing but excellent service. :D
December 8, 200421 yr Hi J.J.,Bill Lyons is one of the nicest (and it goes without saying, honest) people you will ever meet. I've purchased every one of his addons, and I haven't had a problem yet. And he's prompt... If you send in an order on a typical weekday, you should receive a reply from him almost immediately. So it's obvious he hasn't received your order. Similarly, I've never had a problem with PayPal.Here's a shot in the dark: Bill has had problems with emails coming from AOL accounts. So many problems in fact, that he won't accept orders from AOL email addresses. If yours is one of them, you might try using an alternate email address. In any case, the quickest way to resolve your problem is to post a message in his forum:http://members5.boardhost.com/golden/Best Regards,Ken
December 8, 200421 yr I have ordered from Lyons on two occasions. He's no swindler :)The first time I ordered from them, my spam blocker caught the mail containing the keyfile and password. So check if the email has been blocked. Also if you have an alternative email account try sending a message from it. -
December 8, 200421 yr Author Thanks Ken,I followed your suggestion and did send a post to this forum. I immediately got a response from Bill. Apparently something went wrong because my file was e-mailed the next day of my order. I am now going to check what could have gone wrong and possibly request a second mail. Thanks to all for your input. I also took notice that for those who have replied to my post, the Paypal system works well.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
December 8, 200421 yr I've never had a problem with either but Bill has encountered difficulties of some sort with AOL in the past. Is that your ISP by any chance?RobertPIV 3.2 ghz, 1024 DDR ram, 128 mg Radeon 9800 Pro graphic card, Intel D865GBF 800 FSB mobo, two 80 gig Western 7200 hard drives,Win XP Home Edition, 19" ViewSonic E 90f + SB monitor
December 8, 200421 yr Depending on your AOL version, check your SPAM folder. I have had important e-mails get routed there for reasons having to do with the spam filters I have set up.I am about to stop spam filtering for that reason...i.e. you have to check your spam folder daily anyway. No doubt that Bill Lyons is an honest guy.Regards
December 9, 200421 yr i recomend visting his forums sometimes he has problems delevering the email with the link to you mostly AOL.. if he has problems he will post a msg to you in there.Dont know everyone else just said the same thing..But Bill is very trustworthy :)
December 9, 200421 yr I couldn't help but notice the utter civility of this thread! How many "unsatisfied customer" threads have we seen which have gotten so out of hand that they had to be locked? Here, a user made a polite inquiry, and he was answered with good advice, and support for the vendor. Everyone (rightfully) assumed that the problem was somewhere in the e-mail handoffs, and no one got angry. In the end, everyone was happy. I hope others remember this next time you're upset at a vendor who "hasn't gotten back to you." It may not be his fault.
December 9, 200421 yr Well said Cap'n. This response should be pinned at the top of the forum, BOLDFACED. R-
December 9, 200421 yr Author Well guys, in all honesty, I am the culprit, or my spam filter is the culprit. On monday november 29, Bill did send me a link to download the add-on I had purchased. On that day I received 80 e-mails!! (I am retired, so no business mails), 15 of which were from friends and 65 were deleted from the server as spam. One of those 65 was Bill Lyon's mail. I am a frenchspeaking european. Allthough I speak 4 languages fluently, the majority of the mails I receive are in french. Every spam mail I receive is in english. As my american and british friends are all on my friends list, any mail in english has "spam colour" in my mind. Bill's mail's subject was "Classic Apache". I was expecting something of the kind of "Custom Classic VII", so "Classic Apache" did not catch my attention when I browsed the mails marked as "Blacklisted" or "Spam" by my spam filter program (mailwasher), and I let the program delete it from my server. Fortunately, Mailwasher keeps a log of the author as well as the first 20 text lines of the deleted mails, so you can always recuperate at least the first 20 lines, or send a mail to the sender. This explains that I was able to recuperate Bill's mail. Thanks to Ken (srburger) who gave me a link to the Golden Squadron forum wherre I could get in touch with Bill Lyon. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions ands whoes to those bloody spam senders.Have a good day,J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
December 9, 200421 yr I've had no problems with Bill.... In fact ... He will go out of his way to set things straight.PayPal is another matter. I had a payPal account with a prevous email address and bought some stuff then using PayPal. I changed to earthlink and it seems that my email address now has been used by someone in the past. I'm having a big problem getting this fixed. It seems earthlink won't talk about addresses without being on a "Secure" link. They want me to call a phone number and I don't have long distance service. Why should I pay to use someones service? I am not going to "beg" to use someones service, Nor am I going to " Beg" to buy a product on the internet. There is a big need for more security and less problems getting something straight. Beware earthlink and their "recycled" email Addresses.Joe W.
December 9, 200421 yr Moderator BTW, I've been flying Bill's Apache for some time now - you will LOVE it. I received my multi engine rating in an Apache *many* years ago and his work is exceptional.Enjoy - VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
