Does VoxATC respect parking codes?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've read several posts in the forums which claim that it is possible to allocate an atc_parking_code to a specific gate in both the AFCAD and the aircraft.cfg which is then recognized by VoxATC with the result that after landing you get directions to park at the gate to which you assigned the parking code. However, this doesn't seem to work for me. I fly the PMDG-747-800-i and I've set the atc_parking_code = PMDG in both the aforementioned files and correctly loaded the modified airport in the add-on-scenery of FSX. Although setting up only one single heavy gate at the terminal in this way, VoxATC guides me to a CARGO gate far-off the terminal. Tried it for several FSX-stock-airports with no success. So frustrating! Can anybody out there confirm whether or not VoxATC respects parking codes and if so whether I miss something important. I appreciate your valuable help.

Hi bmaik,

I had the same question a while back and from the developer, (support question) I have the following to offer. I tested it with PMDG 737NGX, but that is it. Hope it helps, please post results.

VoxATC assigns parking depending upon the size of the aircraft and if an

Airliner, on the airline code defined for the type of aircraft you are

flying as defined in the aircraft.cfg file.

You can set the atc parking codes in the [fltsim.x] section of the

aircraft.cfg file. the actual value to change is atc_parking-codes

Also change atc_parking_types to GATE if it's not already set that way.

You can get a list of the codes here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airline_codes-A

A quick warning, before editing the aircraft.cfg file, ensure that you

make a backup copy of it.

Thanks for your reply. Was your test successful? Doesn't work for me unfortunately.

I tried a random airline (Lufthansa), a random stock airport (RJAA - Tokyo Narita) and a random heavy gate (Gate 84) for my PMDG 747-800. My aircraft.cfg:

parking_type=GATE

atc_parking_codes=LH

airline_name = Lufthansa

I edited the airport-AFCAD using Airport Design Editor, set airline for Gate 84 to Lufthansa and Codes to LH, compiled the airport and placed it it into add-on-scenery database in FSX. Then I activated the scenery and ran the VoxATC indexer, fired up an approach via ILS rwy 23R and landed. After landing Vox directed me to gate 902, a cargo parking far-off the terminal. Is there something important I forget?

It would be nice if there was a way that Vox would allow you to assign parking as part of setting up the flight like ProFlight Emulator does. I have to believe someone has suggested it to the developer. Maybe it's not possible with this software.

I recently queried this with Tegwyn, as to why VOXATC apparently does not park one's plane according to atc_parking_codes. He said he was looking at it.

Should be DLH and GEC for cargo
