Volumetric clouds laced over photo textures with the glow of HDR lighting really made this one pop for me and I had to share. :)

Great shot! Thank you for sharing!

Very  nice shot.  At the risk of exposing my ignorance, what is meant by "volumetric clouds"?

Thank you. :) Volumetric clouds have 3 dimensional volume and puffiness and are made up of particle effects in the 3D engine, as opposed to just being flat textures on "billboards" that are programmed to face the perspective of the user to give the illusion of depth, such as the clouds in FSX. X-Plane does have some billboarding, but the particle effects mask it so that it looks soft and puffy from all viewing angles.

So, if you fly through volumetric clouds, it won't look like thin, disjointed sheets of "vapor", as it does in FSX?

That's correct. When you look out the side windows, the effect is a wispy and 3 dimentional rather than passing through 2 dimensional gauzy veils as seen in FSX.

Great shot!
