AS2012 textures w/ ANS

Featured Replies

Experts,

A little help please.  Do I need to do anything particular to utilize AS2012 textures with ASN.  From a layman's perspective, I assume I'd have to start AS2012, load a flight plan, and select Yes when promoted to loaded textures.  After the textures load, I would just terminate AS2012 and fire-up ASN?  Does this sound accurate?

That would work just fine but be sure to close AS2012 after loading textures. If you don't change themes very often you can just load your favorite set into FSX and then forget about AS2012. Only fire it up again if you want to change themes. I found a theme I liked and left it at that.

Up to you but both methods will work - just do not have both weather engines running.

I think for those of us who load WX influenced graphics sets before each flight, that would be the proper procedure.

But since I'm opening two programs now, I'd rather open REX and load the Wx influenced textures from my flight plan, then open ASN for my weather during the flight.

Yes - same procedure with AS2012 or REX - ASN will work with any textures - you pick your favorites.

Hi,

I have installed ASN (upgrade) and REX4 already, but I want to use ONLY wave animation from AS2012. Can I simply install AS2012 and load only wave animation texture?

Yes - select the wave option you want then go into install options and UNCHECK everything EXCEPT wave animations. Then click install - only the selected item will be installed.

That I know... but is it safe to install AS2012 with ASN already installed?

not a problem - they are two distinct programs. Just don't run them at the same time.

Any chance of adding a function to ASN that will install weather-influenced textures for those that have Active Sky 2012 or REX installed?

This would be a fantastic capability to have.

Thanks.

Would anyone at hifitech be willing to answer the question quoted above?

Thanks.
