December 19, 201312 yr Author Thanks Ray. Will post back anything interesting re. the FS9 missing icon.. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 20, 201312 yr I use FSCommander for flight planning, but prefer PlanG for a moving map usage. I have never had a crash with PlanG, although I have used it for hours on end. Since it is freeware, there is no harm of trying it on your system to see if you have problems or not. Henri Hey Henri, I like PlanG, but what makes FSCommander superior is the fantastic integration of taxiway and parking information. To my knowledge this is not available in PlanG. I now run FSX on a three multi-monitor setup with an additional wall-mounted 17" monitor centered above. On this fourth monitor I run FSCommander via network. With this solution, I never have to pause FSX to check maps or parking information. True bliss, really... B) DX10: Flying, not Tweaking!
December 21, 201312 yr Author I find a combination of FSNavigator and FS/Google Earth is pretty good (FS9). I only ever used PlanG is FSX: I may still do in the future, but as I use FSX solely for flying VFR over photoscenery and the like (and FS9 for my B747 London to New York flights, or whatever), FS Earth is pretty much all I need - and of course it looks pretty good too. Just wish I could see why I have no icon in the Fs9 version. No reply from Luciano in the forum, or to my email. As I say, as I have paid for two licenses FSE I am going to be a bit annoyed if I get no feedback at all! Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
December 23, 201312 yr Author No reply to my support email and nothing on the website, a week later now. For freeware, you just have to swallow it, but as I have paid good money for two licenses, you'd think that some effort might be made!! I uninstalled FSE for FS9 again and this time, reinstalling has produced the a/c icon, so all is working now. No thanks to certain folks over at wideview.... M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)

B) Well said. i will add that Flight Sim Commander integrates very well with FSX, the Flight Sim Networks and the main add ons with great performance. Its great for IFR flights. For some time I ran an evaluation of Aivlasoft EFB; looks really nice! but for practical purposes I decided not to buy it at this time. Maybe some time in the future. For VFR of course I use Plan G. (on a separate PC over the home network) That is a fantastic tool. VFR is a different world anyway! December 24, 201312 yr Re FS Earth, I used it for awhile (networked) but it wasn't long before the FS Earth driver started causing BSOD crashes, and very often. The error log clearly pointed to the FS Earth driver and I discarded it. I now use Plan G (networked) and am completely happy with it. In my opinion FS Earth is not ready for prime time.
