September 21, 201411 yr As a newbie to FSing, I'm far from ready for this, but last night I was thinking about flying aground the world and was thinking that lacking something larger than a 1000nm range GA a/c it would not be possible due to political problems. I notice on your website that the flight path goes over Pakistan, Afghanistan and the southerly former soviet 'stans. This doesn't seem like it would be possible from a political stand point. I thought about going Bombay-Muscat-Riyadh-Cairo, but I don't think it would be possible to overfly Saudi Arabia. It seems as if the Muslim Middle East forms an impassible wall lacking the range to fly Bombay - Cairo via an all over ocean route. Any comments would be much appreciated.
September 21, 201411 yr A young man from the U.S. recently did this "for real" in an A36 Bonanza (w/ ferry tanks). http://www.limitless-horizons.org/itinerary/
September 21, 201411 yr Very interesting, he managed to fly across Saudi Arabia. I guess I was wrong about the Saudi's not allowing flights across their territory. That opens up possibilities. Thx that is very helpful.
