Avsim has become really slow loading

The thing is, I've been struggling to get on with 400-500 users online. This is the best its been for weeks, even at this time of day (GMT am), so something seems to have changed.

 

Usually I don't have any problems until 800 or more users are online. 600 and below seems completely fine to me.

Two days with not one 504 and the response time is pretty good too, even with 800+ visitors, so it seems the staff have done something good, for which I am grateful... so, thank you :smile:

Yep... I had three or four days of forum perfection, but now things are back to 503's and general slowness. The strange thing is during the past few days, even with 800+ people online it has been fine... but not now.

I'm wondering what is wrong. Are they still experimenting with modules like Tom said above?

I would love to contribute money to this site if I could stipulate how it was spent.  I know the folks at AVSIM are volunteers with other things going on in their lives, and I do appreciate their efforts, but quite frankly the response times for the AVSIM web site suck.  Would love for them to bring in an outside source, a professional if you will, to look at their servers, and give them a fair evaluation and recommendations to fix this problem once and for all.  That's where I want my money spent.  I use AVSIM daily for news about upcoming flight sim products and help in fixing any problems that crop up when I install new aircraft, sceneries, etc.  The forums are a great resource for this assistance from folks far more knowledgeable then me.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth.  Will continue, like everyone else to wait for web pages to load, in the meantime will go fix my coffee and hopefully will have something to read when I get back to my desk
