Does anyone have any clue to this problem? FMC was programmed for cruise at FL380. A few minutes after reaching top of climb, the 777 climbed to FL400, uncommanded. Is this a bug? If so, is there a fix?

Do you have auto step climbs turned on? That is the first thing you should check.

Sounds like auto step climb to me as well.
