January 12, 201412 yr In my CDU, AIRFRAME/AIRSTAIRS INSTALLED option is green YES and in FS ACTIONS/DOORS/ AIRSTAIR is set to OPEN, but when I click on it, it doesn't do anything like all the other doors. There is nothing marked INOP on the overhead. Core i9-10850K Gen10 - RTX3080 - 32G - HP Reverb G2 WMR
January 12, 201412 yr Make sure appropriate power sources are available. Not sure now (never used airstairs on the 737), but I think they are all electric on the NG, so try connecting GPU or APU GEN. --Peter Fabian
January 12, 201412 yr Author Yep, it took power, either apu or ground to open them. But what is the procedure to close them? Now they won't retract. (I tried with the door open or closed.) I wonder in the real world, if the plane is parked somewhere C&D, how the crews board a closed up aircraft? Is there a manual entry door, or would they have to provide a power source? thanks oops... never mind. They are working now. Core i9-10850K Gen10 - RTX3080 - 32G - HP Reverb G2 WMR
January 12, 201412 yr There is a ground access panel for the operation of the stairs. Apparently external standby system is hotwired to battery. http://www.b737.org.uk/aircraft_general.htm#Airstairs --Peter Fabian
March 19, 201412 yr The minimum power you will need in the cockpit to operate the stairs is Batt switch on and Stand By power switch on...this is mainly to get the CDU powered up in the sim so you can see the CDU to operate the stairs. On the real plane it will operate from the outside because it is DC powered by one of the hot dc busses. For some reason I cannot get a key assignment to operate the stairs (Concorde Visor up/down) so I have to operate it from the CDU all the time :-( Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
March 19, 201412 yr For some reason I cannot get a key assignment to operate the stairs (Concorde Visor up/down) so I have to operate it from the CDU all the time :-( Pretty sure PMDG does not have them hooked up to default FS controls. You should be able to set a key combination in the CDU though, or, if that won't work, a small Lua script should be able to take care of it (via LINDA) --Peter Fabian
March 19, 201412 yr I wasn't aware I could set any keys in the CDU...what page would that be on? Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
March 19, 201412 yr Commercial Member I wasn't aware I could set any keys in the CDU...what page would that be on? PMDG Setup > Key Commands There aren't too many menus from the MENU page. It wouldn't hurt to just stab around once or twice to find things. Best way to learn different programs... Kyle Rodgers
March 19, 201412 yr Thank you...I agree...I'll stab around more next time...!!! Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
