AFCAD problem?

Featured Replies

Not really that knowledgeable when it comes to AFCADs, .bgls, etc, so I am asking if anyone knows a cure for my little problem.

I have MTX, VOX ATC and a variety of add on airports and I am finding that my AI is not in the correct location at the gates (too far back in my case) and the AI traffic is not following the centreline of the taxiway. It is following the progressive taxi markings, which are placed by VOX ATC (off-set from the centre of the taxiway). I have also placed MTX in the location in the FSX scenery list as recommended.

I have searched for a solution but found nothing definitive, only that deleting or renaming some MTX bgls.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions,

Rick Hobbs

My guess is that MTX interfers with other scenery, since it adds its own AFCADs. But that should 1) only cause trouble on addon airports and 2) not even that if you set it to a very low priority in the scenery library (I usually have mine right above the default scenery).

I would disable MTX in the scenery library to see, if it is really the culprit before doing anything with its files, though.

OK it seems to me that it is MTX, because I took your advice and disabled in the scenery library and things centered.

Having established that, what am I looking for in the files? It was my understanding that the MTX bgl files were needed for the AI at the gate etc?

Flying from and to advanced airports only (payware & freeware),  I deactivated the original MTX scenery but copied the traffic files from it to create a new scenery folder (MTX_Traffic). After activating this folder in the scenery library I have full MTX traffic but no hassle with double afcads.

I don't want to start deleting MTX folders and creating new ones, because I have VOX ATC that is fussy about where folders are and what they are called, so if I want to try deleting MTX bgl files which one should I delete for say, KLAS (I have FSDT KLAS with its own AFCADs)? I have two KLAS bgl files in my MTX scenery folder:

BR2_KLAS_KA_OBJ.BGL & BR2_KLAS.BGL

Thanks Julian. Have now done this, but still have the AI taxiing off-set to the centreline, which is where XOX ATC is showing the progressive taxi lights.

Ok Rick, try this, go to VoxATC Adv settings, tick the box "Disable" in the Taxi route lights section.

Now try enable or disable in the Vox menu in FSX using the zero key. You normally get the option after requesting Taxi.

Also run the indexer again, just for good measure.

Thanks again Julian, I have renamed my MTX bgl files to passive for all of my add on airports and it has made a difference, but for some reason some of the taxiways at FSDT KLAS are a bit off with the AI aircraft and VOX Prog taxi lights in some spots. However I can live with it.
