DX9 Shadow Intesity Patch

Featured Replies

I can't mate, the shaders have a copyright notice. I didn't meant to make you all edit the files because I'm bored, that's for sure.

Shadow Intensity fix is already in the latest version of DX10 Scenery Fixer.

It doesn't make sense... you got the free dx10 fixes which are altered 'copyrighted' shader files and further more, dx fixer which is payware.. as far as I see it, shouldn't be a problem posting it.

I'm not sure if I've done something wrong, but on my FSX the shadows stay the same intensity at any setting above 5mi visibility, but at and below 5mi visibility there is no shadow at all. Apart from that, a great mod.

I was suggested to not upload modified shader files, that's all. No harm done. It takes a minute to edit two files by yourself, easy as it gets.

Cheers

That's right. Shadow intensity is the same above 3mi, and fading below 3mi.

  • 1 month later...

Just saw this fix, nice work. I've got a couple of questions, though.

Is there any way to reduce the ground shadow intensity during dawn/dusk, but keep the intensity during midday? Also I'd like to understand what the terms actually mean.

If you could shed some light (pardon the pun) on this, it would be much appreciated.

Regards.

Can't tell, never tested the shadow during dawn/dusk, my fault. I'm currently in DX10 mode, so it is a bit complicated for me now to test this mod again in DX9. I can suggest you to experiment with 0.966f and 0.566f values from both shader files. Try reducing one or both values by half for example.

Thanks for the DX9 tweak. I think it looks a lot better and I didn't notice any hit on performance.
